Amy LaFontaine is an Amazing Kid on many different levels. Her passion is working with and riding horses and has competed and placed in four horse shows this year alone, all while training and riding upwards of six horses per day out of Bonita Stables in North Saanich. She also works with an elderly judge to train his draft horses for competition each year at the Saanichton Fair.

Along with this busy schedule, Amy is a highly-involved straight-A student at Stelly’s Secondary School. She is described by all who know her as vivacious and energetic, with a genuine curiosity for learning. She is involved in many activities including band and choir and also takes time to tutor other students during lunch and after school.

This past June, Amy organized a head shave and shed her locks along with five others for Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock. The event took place on the back lawn at Stelly’s School and raised $3000 for the cause. Amy takes great joy in helping others, including regular visits to her grandmother in the hospital, where she plays her guitar and they sing songs together.

Amy’s riding coach and teachers agree that Amy’s future has “no limits”. She hopes to get her PhD in Astrophysics in addition to reaching the Grand Prix level of dressage with her horse and riding in the Olympics. Amy LaFontaine is truly an Amazing Kid. (Source: CTV News)
