The 2018 Canadian Parents for French AGM has just wrapped up and there has been a wealth of information, networking opportunities and exciting updates shared on many levels.  We are delighted to share the torrent of knowledge received and will be doing this in our upcoming CPF Saanich newsletter, communications and Facebook updates. So look out for these over the coming weeks!

First, we are proud to share that our past President, Andrea Calder (with a student at Ecole Stelly's), has been elected to the BC & Yukon branch as Vice President.   Andrea has been working tirelessly for many years to promote French learning in Saanich and we applaud her success and send out our congratulations and best wishes.

The CPF Saanich Chapter seek your support as our fall membership drive draws to closure on Oct 31.  We encourage you to join, renew CPF membership AND also share with a friend.  For this month only, the Saanich Chapter receives 90% of membership revenue and with a extra boost to our funds we can  offer more fun learning activities with our schools.   Membership costs $25 per year, which is a small amount to pay to support extra French learning opportunities, for all the advocacy work undertaken, for the research work (see below) and much more.

Remember you do not have to be a parent to join!  At the AGM we had representatives from every category including some very motivated retirees as well as Grade 12 and first year university students!   Did you know that we have membership from schools, teachers, educators, Student youth as well folks who simply want to promote bilingual opportunities for all.  Our work supports FSL, Core French and French immersion students. All new memberships this month will have their name added into a free draw to win some fabulous prizes.

We have applied for various grants and will be in a position to confirm the exciting French led activities we can offer our FI Saanich schools.  To give you a flavour of some of the fabulous French learning experiences we HOPE to bring to Saanich include: French workshops in reading support, Karate, Drumming, Live Theatre, Spelling games, Maple production, Films, Field trips and support towards the annual Concours d'art oratoire.   Budgets are tight so every single cent counts!  In addition to membership support we are always seeking volunteer help at a variety of CPF led-events.  If you can offer even a couple of hours help, we'd love to hear from you.
