VALUE: 1,000 (one for each school)
TENURE: Camosun College
CRITERIA:
  1. Graduating School District #63 (Saanich) student entering a full-time course of study in an academic, career, technical or trades program. Students in S.D. #61 and S.D. #62 are also eligible.
  2. Above average academic achievement (B average or higher) in all subjects required for secondary school graduation.
  3. Outstanding performance in all elective subjects.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in secondary school or community service.
  5. Demonstrated participation in social, cultural, or community organizations.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to continue post-secondary education at Camosun College.
DEADLINE: September 30
PROCEDURE: Students need to complete the Stelly's application form and include a scholarship resume or curriculum vitae. This vitae must include a transcript of Grade 11 and 12 marks (predicted or final for all courses), a statement of future plans and goals, proof of post-secondary school registration (if required). Application forms are available from Stelly’s Career Centre or can be printed from this website. They should be completed and turned in to the Stelly’s Scholarship Coordinator.
SELECTION: Selection to be made by Stelly’s Scholarship Committee.


Canadian Home Builders' Association of Vancouver Island Student Carpentry Award
DONOR:

Canadian Home Builders' Association of Vancouver Island (Herman Rebneris Student Carpentry Award)

VALUE: Carpentry equipment worth $500
CRITERIA:
  • Registered within the past 12 months in a recognized Carpentry/Woodworking/Career Prep. program
  • Good record of academic achievement
  • Documented School or Community Service or volunteer work
  • Each application must have a teacher's comment attached.
  • Winning student and instructor must attend the CARE Awards at the Victoria Conference Centre, in the fall.
DEADLINE: June 13
PROCEDURE: Complete the application form and send to the CHBA-Victoria



DONOR:

Camosun College Foundation

VALUE: $250 - $350
TENURE: The purpose of the bursary is to encourage a Stelly’s graduate to pursue further education in their Food Service Program, Hotel/Restaurant Management or Tourism Management at Camosun College.
CRITERIA:
  1. A statement outlining the applicant’s education and career plans.
  2. A copy of Grade 12 transcript
  3. Proof of registration at a post-secondary institution.
  4. A completed application must be submitted to the designated contact person.
DEADLINE: May 31
PROCEDURE: Students need to complete the application form and include a scholarship resume or curriculum vitae. Dogwood District/Authority Awards

DONOR:

Provincial Government (B. C. Ministry of Education)

VALUE: $1,000. Each qualifying candidate receives a District Award of $500. In addition, a $500 voucher for post-secondary attendance will be awarded to Dogwood Award winners who proceed to an accredited post-secondary institution to pursue career-oriented studies, normally no later than five years following their graduation.
TENURE: To encourage and support outstanding students planning to enter post-secondary education; to acknowledge excellence in fields other than academic. These awards are redeemable at post-secondary institutions that are accredited and designated for Canada Student Loans by the Ministry of Advanced Education.
CRITERIA: To be eligible for a Dogwood Award the applicant must:


a) <!--[endif]-->Show superior achievement in one of the following specialty areas: FINE ARTS (Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Music), APPLIED SKILLS (Business Ed, Technology Ed, Home Economics), PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (not limited to Physical Education), SECOND LANGUAGES (including Aboriginal Languages).

b) Fulfill the graduation requirements for either the 2004 Graduation Program or Adult Grad Program.

PROCEDURE: a) Complete a District Application Form. Include a Curriculum Vitae/Resume and one letter of reference from a specialty teacher or coach along with a transcript of grades.
SELECTION: Selection will be made by School District #63 Administration.


DONOR:

Secondary School Apprenticeship

VALUE: $1000
CRITERIA: This scholarship is awarded to Secondary School Apprenticeship students still working in their trade 5 months after graduation. SSA graduates must have

  • been registered in a school district Secondary School Apprenticeship Program prior to graduation
  • graduated with a Grade 12 Dogwood Diploma or Adult Dogwood
  • successfuly completed SSA 11A, SSA 11B, SSA 12A, and SSA 12B
  • maintained a C+ average or better on Grade 12 numbered courses
  • continued working or training full-time in the trade 5 months after secondary school graduation or have 1100 hrs reported to ITA.
DEADLINE: November 30
PROCEDURE: Secondary School Apprenticeship graduates may apply for the scholarship via Stelly's Secondary School Apprenticeship Co-ordinator, Mr. Stu Rhodes



DONOR:

Sidney By The Sea Rotary Club

VALUE: 2 @ $500 (cheque will be directed (sent) to the institution when registered)
TENURE: To encourage a Stelly’s Graduate to achieve certification in a recognized trade.
CRITERIA: Awarded to a graduating student entering a Post Secondary Apprenticeship program from Stelly’s Secondary School who has demonstrated the following:

  1. Must have showed commitment to extra curricular school and community activities and should possess good leadership skills.
  2. Must have achieved grades appropriate to the entrance requirements of their chosen Post Secondary Program.
  3. Must attend a Post Secondary Program within the graduation year and provide proof of admission.
  4. Must have completed at least three senior courses (Grade 11 and/or 12) in the appropriate Apprenticeship areas.
  5. Must be in Grade 12 on January 1st and in a position to graduate at the end of the school year.
DEADLINE: June 15
PROCEDURE: Students need to complete the appropriate Sidney By The Sea Rotary Application Form and include a scholarship resume or curriculum vitae. This vitae must include a transcript of Grade 11 and 12 marks (predicted or final for all courses). Application forms are available from Stelly’s Career Centre and should be completed and turned in to the Stelly’s Scholarship Coordinator.
SELECTION:

The Stelly’s Scholarship Committee, including representatives, will make Selectionfrom each department, in consultation with Sidney By The Sea Rotary Club.
