GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to our Track and Field team on yesterdays meet at UVic. Braving cool and windy conditions our athletes sprinted, hurdled, jumped and threw to impressive performances in each discipline. Our six newest rookies made the most of their first competition and performed admirably.  To our sprinters (Abby, Logan, and Jean) who just learned the art of using the starting block, incredible,  no false starts!  To our first time throwers, Belle, Gabrielle, Jean, and Dawson - you rock!  Our lone hurdler, Athena, yahoo!  Clean over 80 metres.  Long jumpers and spear chuckers (Torin, Aidan and Dawson), good flight interesting landings.  And David Johnson had two solid races.  Great work everybody!

French Immersion K-12 Gift Exchange is happening tonight in the MPR at 6pm. Students please arrive at 5pm to greet your “little Buddies”.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE COURSE : All students who selected "Environment Science" for next year, please come to a BREIF but important meeting at the beginning of lunch in the Career centre.

GRAD EXEC 2018: All grade 11 students who are applying for Grad Exec for next year, please submit all applications to the office before Friday April 21st.

OSEF STUDENT EXCHANGE: Interested in a 1 or 3 month Student Exchange to France, Belgium or Spain? OSEF offers you an opportunity to do it! More information available in the career center!

Attention French Immersion students!  Do you have time to volunteer at Keating Elementary for their Lecture en cadeau programme?  This programme is designed to inspire the love of reading in our young French immersion students, and to forge a connection between the French immersion communities at both schools.

STUDIO 63 Hair Salon at ILC Saanicton is now OPEN FOR BUSINESS.  Free hair cuts .. just drop by or make an appointment. Check out their website for more details.

Interested in a 'By Youth for Youth" event surrounding Mental Health?  See Ms Koenig if interested in attending a Youth Summit to be held on May 4th.


REMINDER TO STUDENTS DRIVERS:  All student vehicles must be registered with the office. Parking Spaces are limited, under no circumstances are students allowed to use visitor parking, or staff parking spots. Students are only allowed parking in spots marked with ORANGE DOTS!

CLUBS

The Stelly's Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA) is holding a Day of Silence tomorrow to spread awareness of the silencing effects of anti-LGBTQ+ name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. We are asking that anyone participating, please pin a white paper to their shirt showing that you would vow to not speak for the day. We also ask that those who don't participate to respect those who are.



ATHLETICS

DROP IN VOLLEYBALL: For students of any skill level looking to hone their skills or try out volleyball, there will be drop-in volleyball tomorrow (Friday, April 21st) right after school at 2:35 pm!

CAREER CENTER

First Aid with CPR "C" & AED still has seats available for Monday, May 8th at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  $50.00  This is a great certificate to add to your resumé!  Visit the Career Centre for more information. 

GRADUATION 2017

AFTERGRAD RAFFLE TICKETS Due this Friday....Please hand them in even if they are not sold!

GRAD CEREMONY MUSICAL AUDITIONS: Application forms are available in the main office for Grads interested in performing at the Graduation Ceremony in June. Auditions will be after school May 3rd and May 4th, 2017.

SPRING FUNDRAISER:  Spring Flower and Plant fundraiser are due back to the office by Friday!

MAGIC WAND PROJECT:  The Magic Wand is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive alternative to grad outfits for students. The Magic Wand  is for ANY Grad wanting to borrow a dress or tux, rather than buy (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge).  All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. See the office for more details.

GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE: Reminder Grad Bottle drive is happening on Saturday between 9am and 12pm in support of Stelly's Dry After Grad.
