GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to all those Students that performed at the Coffee Concert last night! It was awesome to hear so many of our talented students perform! Bravo!!

UBC Visit: A representative from UBC will be here on Thursday at lunch in Rm 116 to answer any questions you have about admissions, programs etc.

REPORT CARDS: If you missed TA yesterday, drop by the office and pick up your report card!

GRADE 9 STUDENTS: Please return your Immunization forms to the Office ASAP!

LOST & FOUND: Missing a Hoodie, water bottle or T-shirt? Check out he overflowing lost & found table in the hallway outside rm 113.

HOMEWORK HELP: Homework Help is now available Tuesday through Friday mornings starting at 7:30am and after school in the Learning Commons Monday through Friday until 4pm.

Encounters With Canada - Engaging youth in Canada's future

The cost per student for an Encounters' week in Ottawa is now $575, which includes lodging, meals, most planned activities and local transportation. Check out the Encounters Calendar https://www.ewc-rdc.ca/pub/en/theme_week  to view theme weeks that still have seats available; you must be aged 14-17 years when you attend. HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM: The recruitment cycle for the House of Commons Page Program is on now through to December. Pages are first-year undergraduate students who work in the House of Commons in Ottawa for one year.  Under the terms of their contract, Pages are paid $16,088 in 26 equal payments over a 12-month period. In addition, a sum of $1,200 is paid at the end of the employment period for successful completion of the contract. Are you interested in:

  • studying in Ottawa after high school? Working on Parliament Hill?

Each year 40 students graduating from high school are selected from across Canada to participate in the Page Program. EXPLORATION IN TECHNOLOGY (TEAC 105)
It's Camosun's TEAC 105 (Explorations in Technology) registration time for the Feb-May 2018 course!  This dual-credit course, runs on Fridays from 3-6 pm, and provides current high school students with an introduction to careers in 4 technology areas:   Computer Science, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.   See the Counselling Office for application forms.

FREE RETAIL TRAINING - Brentwood Bay -  December 3, 10 and 17  

This certificate program prepares you for first time work experiences in retail and many other work environments.  You will be treated as an employee and you will be working alongside a busy team of staff members. You will have training in: Working a cash register and counting cash - Customer service - Creating displays - Sorting inventory - Assisting with pricing - Opening & closing procedures.  Special Olympics Bowling Miracle Lanes

Volunteers would assist athletes in the 5 pin bowling program, by assisting athletes on the lanes, ensuring that the athletes are bowling in the right order, assisting the head coach of when necessary and making sure everyone is having a GREAT TIME!! 6:00 pm – 7:30pm Mondays at Miracle Lanes 2375 Bevan Avenue, Sidney. Peninsula Youth Health Clinic – Open Tonight
The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic is open today from 5-7pm. Walk in's are welcome. This clinic is completely  confidential !

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS:  Parent Teacher Interviews are happening next Thursday, November 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm. Starting on Monday, November 20th, 2017 at 10am, appointment sign up sheets will be posted just outside the main office. Parents, you may have your student make appointments on your behalf.
