GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

BEST OF LUCK TO THE SENIOR GIRLS SOCCER TEAM who start their season today after school playing against Claremont! Go Stingers !

TC 10 KM: Attention all staff and students!  Are you interested in doing the TC 10K run this year?  Stelly's has a staff/student team you can join, to walk or run the beautiful course Sunday April 29th.  Deadline to register and get a "Stingers" team T-shirt is this Friday at noon.  Contact Mrs Hilton for more information.

STAGECRAFT: Stagecraft will be happening after school today!

YOUTH IN ACTION BOOK DRIVE:  Did Spring Break mean Spring cleaning?  Youth In Action is collecting gently used children's books to support the locally organized 1000 X 5 book drive.  If you sorted through your bookshelves or dusted off some outgrown books, please bring them to the box in the main foyer! We are collecting books until April 9.  Your donation will help a child in our community towards better success at school and a love of reading!

HOMEWORK HELP: Don't forget...Homework Help is available everyday in the Learning Commons starting at 7:30am and after school until 4pm.

ATHLETICS 

BADMINTON TEAM: Badminton team meeting today at lunch in room 106

TENNIS TEAM: Reminder to all those interested in playing Tennis this year...quick meeting at lunch in the dinning room and a practice after school at 3:20 at the Centennial courts - weather permitting. As well, a reminder that we will practice Thursday after school and we have our first match on Friday against Spectrum at the Centennial Courts. Please see Mr. Redlin if you are interested but cannot make the meeting or the practice today.

CAREER CENTRE

CAMP IGNITE Youth Firefighter Mentorship Program for Grade 11 & 12 Girls - August 9th to August 12th, 2018 - The camp is open to girls in grades 11-12 (ages 16-18), and gives them an introduction to the world of firefighting. Each girl will learn about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. It’s easy, and there’s no cost to participate!  The camp will supply you with firefighter gear, accommodations, meals, activity fees and transportation during the camp.  All you have to do is show up with a great attitude and a sense of adventure! To apply, download and fill out the application form http://campignite.com/ and bring it in to your municipality’s main fire hall. THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS JUNE 1st, 2018

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

ALERT FIRST AID with CPR”C”& AED Saturday, May 5, 2018 - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre  Cost is $50.00.  This fun & interactive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. This course also includes recognition & first-aid treatment for head & spine injuries, shock, bleeds, anaphylactic shock, heart attacks & strokes. Participants spend the majority of the course doing hands on first-aid training. By practising with scenarios students gain confidence & learn to react & improvise in emergency situations.
