GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A Huge Shout Out to the Jr "A" Girls Volleyball team who made Stelly's proud again yesterday by wining 2 out 3 games and also beating Claremont in a heroic come from behind win. Well done girls!!!!

Reminder that Social Leadership class meets today at lunch in room 108. 

TA is happening Friday at the end of Block 1 to hand out student cards & photo proofs.

New Bus Passes: If you have been waiting for the new batch of bus passes to arrive, they are here!! Come pick them up in the office

COFFEE CONCERT: The next Coffee Concert is next Wednesday, October 17th. Sign up sheets are now posted outside the band room!

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15amin the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday! Check it out!

STUDENT PARKING
Reminder to all students who are driving cars to school:  all cars must be registered if you are parking in the student parking lot.  Please come to the office to pick up your registration form. 

CAREER CENTRE

Training Opportunity
Operation: This IS You! FREE career event for GIRLS - Saturday, Oct 20th   -  Day Sail on a Royal Canadian Navy Warship Activities include tours of ship duty stations, crew quarters and operational equipment; Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) joint search and rescue demonstration, ship firefighting simulation, and demonstration of the warship’s impressive manoeuvring capabilities. Food Safe Level 1  - Friday, October 19th, 2018 - (Pro-D Day)- 8:30 am to 4:30 pm - at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney - 10030 Resthaven Drive - Cost is $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working or wishing to work in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.

Alert First Aid with CPR "C" & AED.  There are seats still available for this first aid training session on Saturday, Oct. 20th at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  Cost is $50. Visit the Career Centre for registration information.

JOB OPPORTUNITES
On-call weekend server is needed at SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $16.58/ hour. Come work in the dining room where residents and customers enjoy meals together. The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food service duties, and may assist Cooks in food preparation. Must be minimum 16 years of age, have FOODSAFE certification and First Aid.

SCP Cafe at Saanich Commonwealth Place is hiring for help on weekdays and weekends. Shifts are 4-6 hours in length at $12.65/ hour.

Canadian Tire @ Broadmead is getting ready to gear up for the Xmas season and is looking to hire for 6-8 cashier positions!  Part-time employees are expected to be available at least one weekend day and either one of Thursday or Friday nights, with more shifts available if desired.

Brentwood Bay Village Emporium is looking for an energetic, conscientious weekend kitchen support person. This is a 1:30pm - 6pm shift on Saturdays with the possibility of other weekend and after-class shifts. Duties include dishwashing, bussing tables, restocking supplies, cleaning and assisting with kitchen prep. The hourly wage is $12.75 plus tip sharing and staff discounts. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Island Health and Saanich Peninsula Hospital have volunteer opportunities;  this is a great opportunity for students considering a career in health care. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in the Health Care Assistance Program. Duties would include helping with music and memories program - moving residents in wheelchairs - crafts and activities - play games - write letters - special events - have 1:1 visits for companionship - sharing your gifts and talents with residents. GRAD

GRAD CLOTHING: The grad clothing store is now back online with hoodies, crew necks, sweatpants, socks and pinnies. To access the store you can find the link on the grad Facebook and Instagram. Check out the samples of clothing in the main foyer at lunch today! The online store will close again on October 14th at midnight.

GRAD PORTRAITS: Grads, have you booked your appointment yet for your portraits?  Lifetouch will have their portable photo studio here starting October 29th!  Be sure to book your appointment  as all grade 12 students need to sign up for an appointment so that you are included in the yearbook.  All details are on the Stelly's Grad Forum.

GRAD POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER - Grads do you want to decrease your Grad fee's this year? Grad Poinsettia fundraiser order forms are now available on the Grad Board in the main foyer! Forms are due back Wednesday, October 30th.

GRAD PARENT INFO NIGHT:
Ms. Hansen invites all parents/guardians
of students graduating in 2019 to attend an information session in the Stelly's Learning Commons, TONIGHT (Thursday), 7:00 - 8:00 pm.  This is an opportunity to learn many details about the grad year, graduation events, post secondary, grad transition, scholarships and many other details.

The Peninsula Youth Clinic in  Sidney  located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open today and every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
