GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

MANDATORY GRAD ASSEMBLEY on Thursday, April 4th in Block 4. All Grade 12 students must attend!

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL INTRAMURALS: 3 on 3 Basketball Intramurals are starting on Wednesday at lunch in the large gym. Come ready to play! If you haven't put a team together yet, you can still make it happen... see Ms Montgomery!

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

ATHLETICS

TENNIS TEAM: Any students interested in playing on the Stelly's Tennis Team this year please come to a meeting at lunch on Wednesday in the dining room. Practice after school on Wednesday. See Mr. Redlin if you cant make it!

CLUBS

Youth In Action club is hosting a drive to help homeless members of our society. Please support us by bringing clothing and hygiene supplies to the box in the main foyer. There are posters around the school with ideas of what is needed by the Victoria Cool Aid Society.  Collecting will continue until April 20.

CAREER CENTRE

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

First Aid Training – April 6  from 8:30-4:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

Food Safe Training – April 8
Food Safe Level 1 training:  Monday, April 8, 2019, from 8:30 - 4:30 pm, at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.  Visit the Career Centre for registration info.

EMPLOYMENT:

Is looking for students to work in the concession thru baseball season, starting April 14th – evenings and week-ends $13.00 per hour.  (FoodSafe is required - if you do not have FoodSafe contact  Jean and Kiwanis will pay for it, only if you work at the Park) Contact Jean Galvin directly at 250-652-8386

Peninsula Country Market is looking hire students to help out at the weekly market. If you like to be outdoors, the sound of live music, fresh fruit & veggies this is a wonderful summer job. Saturdays 9 am-1 pm / June 1 -October 13 - Stelly’s Fairgrounds, 1528 Stelly’s Cross Road.  Help is also needed to set up and tear down tables and tents 7:00am – 1:30pm – 6.5 hours @ $13.00/Hr.  Kids activity area including face painting, colouring and craft activities 9:00am – 1:00pm – 4 Hours @ $13.00/Hr

Central Saanich Little League is hiring two positions: 1) Cook/Food Supervisor - $14.25 hour - Valid Food Safe certificate required  2)Front End Server/Cashier - $12.65 hour - Valid Food Safe certificate and asset.   Commitment from mid-March to the end of June and possibly into July required.  Contact President@littleleague.com or call 250.886.6323

GRAD SPRING PLANT FUNDRAISER: Grads don't forget to pick up your Grad Spring Plant fundraiser form from the Grad board. This fundraiser will help you pay for your Dinner/Dance ticket .... so don't delay grab a fund raising form today! Due date is April 18th!

Did you know that Beacon Community Services offers up to 4 scholarships of $1500 to graduating Grade 12 students who show dedication to Community service/volunteerism.In other words, to students who exemplify our Beacon charity’s mission of helping people and improving lives! INTERNATIONAL

Mandatory Meeting on Wednesday at lunch for all those International students going on the Rocky Mt Trip .

Tofino Bear Watching or Surfing Trip - May 8th -The cost of this trip is $250.00 per person and includes transportation, overnight accommodation, one buffet dinner, and a  Bear Watching Boat Tour OR a Surfing Lesson.  Forms may be picked up in the International Office. The deadline for payment and registration is Friday, April 12, 2019. Don't wait until the last moment as there are limited seats available!

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

Reminder to families about the Parent Education Presentation next week on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 6:30-8:30pm, at Bayside Middle School on what students are learning about substance use, sexual orientation, gender diversity and modern masculinity. Presenters will include:  Michelle Joyce (SD 63 Police Liaison),  Lux Welsh (Ambit Gender Diversity),  Nick Sandor (Island Sexual Health) It is free, but please register at Sexuality and Substance Use Awareness

Family Resources Fair – April 16
A family resources fair is being planned by School District 63, combining the "Life After High School" and the "Community Living Resource Fair." This will be a chance for the community to network with current service providers to learn about who they are and what supports and services they provide for children, youth and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.  Saturday April 6, 11:30 – 3:30 at the Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium.
