GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to our Amazing Stelly’s Track & Field team who competed yesterday at the Vancouver Island Championships ! They continue to make us so proud!

Isaiah Smith won the the Sr Boys Triple jump. Wow! Gabrielle Houle competed in the discus throw, besting her throw by over 3 metres. Great Job! Aiden Schandl besting his school record 400m time. He continued his excellent performances this season by winning the 100m and 200m races later in the day. His 100m was a PB and third best 100m in Stelly’s history. Amazing! Matias Vickers had his own PB, 5th fastest in school history in the 100m. You rocked it! Hayden Van had strong performances in 400 and 200m, placing 6th in each race. Awesome Job! Samantha Konyu raced in the 100m finals. She now sits in 5th place on the Stelly’s all-time best 100m times. You are amazing! Morgan Price raced in the 100m finals and Matteo Hilton qualified for islands in long jump. Fabulous Job! And to top of this amazing day....Matteo, Isaiah, Matias, Aiden, and Hayden competed in the 4 X 100 relay placed 4th, narrowly missing 3rd and Oak Bay by 0.02 seconds.

Measles Catch-up for Students in Grades 10 to 12 - In the next week or so, watch for immunization consent packages to come home for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who are unimmunized or under immunized for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR). Please discuss the information in the consent package and involve your child in the decision to provide consent to immunization.  Immunizations will be provided at Stelly's school for students in grades 10 to 12 on TUESDAY June 4th,2019.

The last day to drop classes for this semester so that they don’t show up on your transcript is FRIDAY May 31st.

CAREER CENTRE

Trades Exploration 2020 - If you are wondering about, or considering, a career in the trades, Saanich School District offers the Trades Exploration program, introducing students to the fields of carpentry, welding, electrical and plumbing. The semester 2 TEX Program can help you discover the trade that suits you and your talents best, and leads into post secondary trades training. There are still seats available! Please see Mr. Rhodes in the Career Centre to register.

TEAC 105 - Explorations in Technology - Do you want to explore Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science?  TEAC 105 explores these four technologies through hands-on activities and project-based learning. This dual-credit course is offered in partnership with Camosun College and runs on Friday afternoons at Camosun Interurban Campus from 3- 6 pm, from September to February. TRAINING & EDUCATION:

Camp Ignite – Summer 2019
Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18.  It is a   4-day camp that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. This year's camp will run from August 8-11, 2019.  Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend.
Application deadline is June 1. Please visit the Career Centre for application packages.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers Needed for the iCan Bike Program being held at Pearkes Rec Centre July 8-12

iCan Bike camp teaches children with cognitive and/or physical challenges how to ride a two wheeled bike. Volunteers must be physically fit enough to walk, jog, and run beside riders.

Reminder to all grads, there is a mandatory grad rehearsal today at lunch.

Recognition Ceremony Ticket Forms and Guest Application forms are are available in the main office for those grade 12 students who are on the eligible to graduate list.
