Stelly's Drama 11/12 class presents "The Last Gladiator" on May 23rd & May 24th at 7pm in the MPR. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. Come on out and laugh at their hilarious antics!
Stelly's Jr Musical Theatre Class presents "Let's Go to the Movies" a tribute to Hollywood Musicals on Friday, May 31st at 7pm in the MPR. Tickets are available at the Main office. Adults $10 and Students $5.
Summer School Registration is opening on May 22nd at Spectrum Community School on a first come first serve basis.
Measles Catch-up for Students in Grades 10 to 12 – today watch for immunization consent packages to come home for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who are unimmunized or under immunized for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR). Please discuss the information in the consent package and involve your child in the decision to provide consent to immunization. Immunizations will be provided at Stelly's school for students in grades 10 to 12 on TUESDAY June 4th,2019.
HOMEWORK HELP: Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!
CAREER CENTRE
TASK PROGRAM: Are you curious about the trades? Do you like working with your hands? Would you like to learn some new skills to gain employment? Do you want to to earn credits toward graduation? The TASK program is designed to introduce students to a wide array of trade training. Students will participate in a series of training modules in the following trade areas: Welding, Electrical, carpentry, Plumbing, sheet metal, auto service and much more. There will be an info session on Thursday at lunch in the career centre. Check it out!
Trades Exploration 2020 - If you are wondering about, or considering, a career in the trades, Saanich School District offers the Trades Exploration program, introducing students to the fields of carpentry, welding, electrical and plumbing. The semester 2 TEX Program can help you discover the trade that suits you and your talents best, and leads into post secondary trades training. There are still seats available! Please see Mr. Rhodes in the Career Centre to register.
TEAC 105 - Explorations in Technology - Do you want to explore Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science? TEAC 105 explores these four technologies through hands-on activities and project-based learning. This dual-credit course is offered in partnership with Camosun College and runs on Friday afternoons at Camosun Interurban Campus from 3- 6 pm, from September to February. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Kelset Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help with their Spring Fair on June 7th. Volunteers are needed to run carnival games, face painting, craft tables, ticket booths. The fair runs from 5-8 pm, extra volunteers are also needed for set-up and clean-up. Contact Sara at: slawton@beaconcs.ca
Step Up Youth Program - Island Health’s Volunteer Program for Youth - Volunteer opportunities at both Victoria General Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital. All Youth in Grades 9-12 (Minimum age is 14). Application due: June 30th (accepted on a first come first serve basis) Interviews: July, Training: August. Volunteers Needed for the iCan Bike Program being held at Pearkes Rec Centre July 8-12 . iCan Bike camp teaches children with cognitive and/or physical challenges how to ride a two wheeled bike. Volunteers must be physically fit enough to walk, jog, and run beside riders. See the poster on Career Centre Info Board.
Volunteers needed for Brentwood Festival June 1 at Pioneer Park. Help at this fun family event featuring artisans, concertsand farm stands. Our station involves children activities such asface painting, and children crafts. 4 volunteers needed for each shift. Shifts are 9-1 and 12-4, or stay the day! MANDATORY UVIC GRAD REHEARSAL – May 27
Reminder to grade 12’s that there is a MANDATORY GRAD REHEARSAL at the UVic auditorium on Monday May 27th. All graduating students must meet at the front of the school at 8:15am to prepare for bussing. Grads are not permitted to drive their own vehicles to UVic.
