GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A Huge Shout out to Haldon Craig, Ben Cunningham, Ethan Schwartz and Aiden Wittman who over this past summer played Baseball in the Senior Canadian Regional Championships in Nova Scotia and made it to the Semi Finals! Way to go stingers...You make us Proud!

ORANGE SHIRT Day - Sept 30th - On Sept 30th we will be celebrating NATIONAL ORANGE SHIRT DAY. By wearing our orange shirts will remember children who attended residential schools. If you would like to buy an orange shirt, they will be on sale on today and Wednesday at lunch in the main foyer. Only $15 each!

Grade Wide assemblies are happening Tuesday as follows: Block 1 – Grade 11, Block 2 – Grade 12, Block 3 – Grade 9 & Block 4 – Grade 10. Please be sure to attend!

Leadership Class is meeting today in Room 148 at lunch. all those students registered for Leadership must attend!

The First Indigenous Leadership Class is happening Tuesday at lunch in Room 152!

JAZZ BAND is happening today after school in the Band Room!

BREAKFAST CLUB - Breakfast Club started today! It's a great way to start the day with bagels, oatmeal, juice and Hot chocolate. Bagels and Oatmeal are only 25 cents each! Be sure to thank the volunteers who help to make this happen for you every day!

School Forms – Return to Your T.A.  - Reminder to please return all of your school forms and fee payments ASAP. If paying with a cheque, please make it out to "SD#63".

 2019-2020 School Bus Registration - All students who wish to take the School District bus must register to ensure a seat. Please go to the School District Website under transportation and register.

School Photos – Tuesday, Sept 17
Photo Day is TUESDAY, Sept 17th in blocks 1 and 2.  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  Order forms are available in the office, but have also been handed out in TA. 
Student Parking
Starting today,  all students who are parking in the student parking lot need to be registered.  Registration forms are available in the main office. Last year's registration forms are NOT valid a new form is required.

HOLLAND & FRANCE SPRING BREAK 2020: Did you know that Stelly's students are travelling to Holland and France in Spring Break of 2020?  We'll be visiting famous sites from World War 1 and 2 and other places of interest.  It's not too late for grade 9-12 students to join this amazing 10 day trip.  There will be a meeting today at lunch in room 108 for all registered students and interested students.  If you can't make the meeting, please see Mrs Wallace in room 108 as soon as possible.

ATHLETICS

Check out the Fall Sports Tryout Schedule posted on our website and around the school. Today there will be a Cross Country meeting at lunch in Rm 169 for any students interested. Also, Jr & Sr Boys soccer is happening after school at Centennial Park

CAREER CENTRE

Don’t forget to check out the career centre job board for training, job and volunteer opportunities! There is something there for everyone! Check it out!

Trades Exploration -TEX Program - Have you thought about a career in the trades?  Not sure if it will be right for you? Get samples of Welding, Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing through a Semester 2 TEx Program!  Earn work experience credits and learn about the steps to apprenticeship and Red Seal Certification. There's still time to register!

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

Have You Considered a Career in AVIATION and DESIGN? School District #61 is hosting a semester long Aviation and Design Program @ Mt. Doug Secondary February - June 2020  Partnering With Viking Air, Victoria Flying Club, Pacific Sky, VIH Aviation Group & Camosun College. See Career Centre Info Board for more information!!  To register talk with Mr. Rhodes in the Career Cent.  APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER  2019

AUTOTECH PROGRAM - Do you love cars? Enjoy working with your hands? Need credits for graduation?  How would you like to be a Camosun student before you graduate? STARTS February 2020 – Application deadline is mid-November 2019.  13 weeks (February-June) of instruction at Esquimalt High. 7 weeks at Camosun College for Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program. 100 hours of Work Experience to be completed before Camosun begins.  To register see the Career Centre.

 GRAD 2019

BOTTLE DRIVE FOR GRAD 2020: On the 4th Saturday of every month a bottle drive will be held from 9:00am - 12:00pm to raise money for the After Grad 2020. The Bottle Drive schedule co-insides with the Community Recycling and soft plastics drop-off at Stelly’s each month. Please contact Corinna Laird  by Phone or Text 250-818-3893 if you are avialable to volunteer and help out.

INTERNATIONAL

Camp Qwanoes – Applications due Sept 18 - International Students:  Camp Qwanoes completed consent forms and payment must be submitted to Diane, in the International office by September 18th.  This amazing trip will fill up fast! Don't delay.

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

PAC MEETING: The first PAC Meeting of the year is happening on Tuesday, September 10th at 7pm in the Learning Commons. All Parents are most welcome!

SCOUTS CANADA 2019-2020 REGISTRATION: Scouting provides kids with a range of activities and experiences that no other youth program can match.  Programs for 2019-2020 are just getting started!  Read about the programs for youth aged 5 and up at https://www.scouts.ca/.   You can find a group  in your area and register online at using the “Find a Group feature” on myscouts.cahttps://www.myscouts.ca/ca/netforum_locator/search.   For specific information on Scout programs offered in Central Saanich by 2nd Tsartlip and 10th Tsartlip Scout Groups, please email 10tsartlip@victoriascouts.ca.
