GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

ORANGE SHIRT Day - Sept 30th - On Sept 30th we will be celebrating NATIONAL ORANGE SHIRT DAY. By wearing our orange shirts will remember children who attended residential schools.

Homework Help is available every morning from 7:10am in the Learning commons and after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday til 4pm.

ACCOUNTS OFFICE is closed on Friday.

BREAKFAST CLUB – Do you have time to volunteer for this wonderful program we have at Stelly’s? A couple of hours in the morning, once a week? If you are able to help out please email Darcy Winkel at dmwinkel@shaw.ca

School Forms – Return to Your T.A.  - Reminder to please return all of your school forms and fee payments ASAP. If paying with a cheque, please make it out to "SD#63".

School Photos – Tuesday, Sept 17
Photo Day is TUESDAY, Sept 17th in blocks 1 and 2.  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  Order forms are available in the office, but have also been handed out in TA. 

Student Parking
All students who are parking in the student parking lot need to be registered.  Registration forms are available in the main office.  Last year's registration forms are NOT valid a new form is required.

HOLLAND & FRANCE SPRING BREAK 2020: Did you know that Stelly's students are travelling to Holland and France in Spring Break of 2020?  We'll be visiting famous sites from World War 1 and 2 and other places of interest.  It's not too late for grade 9-12 students to join this amazing 10 day trip.  If you are interested  please see Mrs Wallace in room 108.

Italy Spring Break 2021 - Are you interested in visiting Italy on Spring Break of 2021? We are planning an 11 day tour with EF Tours including visits to Venice, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Pompeii, and Capri. We will be holding a meeting at school this week on Thursday at lunch in Room 144 for students (Sept 12).  Parents please contact Tasha Liberatore at tliberatore@saanichschools.ca for more information

LAST Jr. Boys Soccer tryouts on Thursday at Centennial at 3:30.  If you are interested this is the last chance to come out!

SAILING CLUB:  Our Fall Sailing program is starting soon. All levels welcome. If you are interested in sailing this fall please contact Christine at cbennett@saanichschools.ca.

MODEL UN: Are you interested in politics, international relations, or the United Nations? Do enjoy debate, discussing current world issues, and want to develop your public speaking skills? Join the Stelly's Model UN club! Meetings are on Mondays at lunch in Room 105.

Trades Exploration -TEX Program - Have you thought about a career in the trades?  Not sure if it will be right for you? Get samples of Welding, Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing through a Semester 2 TEx Program!  Earn work experience credits and learn about the steps to apprenticeship and Red Seal Certification. There's still time to register!

AUTOTECH PROGRAM - Do you love cars? Enjoy working with your hands? Need credits for graduation?  How would you like to be a Camosun student before you graduate? STARTS February 2020 – Application deadline is mid-November 2019.  13 weeks (February-June) of instruction at Esquimalt High. 7 weeks at Camosun College for Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program. 100 hours of Work Experience to be completed before Camosun begins.  To register see the Career Centre.

Camp Qwanoes – :  Camp Qwanoes completed consent forms and payment must be submitted to Diane, in the International office by September 18th.  This amazing trip will fill up fast! Don't delay.

Peninsula Youth Clinic – OPEN EVERY THURSDAY
For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand. Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.

-access to STI and pregnancy testing
-access to birth control
