GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Basketball season is upon us! The season has started this week for some of our teams including our senior boys Thursday night at home vs. Parkland. 7:30 tip off. Come out and support the boys.

Stelly’s Global Perspective Gala – December 4th – Please join us next Wednesday evening on December 4th from 5pm to 9pm as we host our Annual fundraiser for building a library at a school in Katesh, Tanzania. 100% of funds raised goes towards this Humanitarian project!

PARENT/TEACHER Interviews are happening next Wednesday, December 4th which co=insides with the Global Gala. Online booking will be open on Friday, November 29th at 5pm.

GRADE 9 IMMUNIZATIONS - Grade 9 parents: watch for immunization consent packages that were sent home Wednesday. Please discuss the information in the consent package and involve your child in the decision to provide consent to immunization. This should be used as an opportunity for adolescents to start making decisions about their own health. Immunizations will occur on February  18th, 2020..  Although a child may be immunized with the consent of a parent/guardian or representative, a grade 9 student can make an informed decision regarding immunization regardless of parental consent or refusal. This is referred to as “mature minor consent.” Please contact the Peninsula Health Unit if you have any questions at 250-544-2400.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

JDF Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp – application deadline Dec 18 - Do you have what it takes to… Run into a burning building when everyone else is running away? Handle a hose so powerful it takes two people to hold it? Dangle off the end of a rope 50 feet in the air? Use the Jaws of Life and other tools to save someone trapped in a car? The next JDF Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp runs March 16 – 21, 2020Application deadline is December 18, 2019 - For information & applications, please visit the Career Centre.  Upon completion, students qualify for 100 Work Experience hours, equivalent to 4 school credits.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The SHOAL Centre Bridge Club Dinner and Banquet is being held on December 4, Volunteers Needed!! GRAD WINTER FORMAL - Thursday, Dec 12th- 6:30pm - 9pm - Tickets on sale at lunch in the main foyer next week. Cost of tickets is $20.  Last day to buy tickets is Friday December 6 - Don't miss out!

GRAD PHOTO RETAKES - Dec 17 & 18 - If you didn't get a chance to get your Grad Photo's done in October your next chance will be on Tuesday December 17th and Wednesday December 18th. All grads need to have their photo's taken for the yearbook. No sitting fee is required if you don't plan on purchasing portraits. The link will be up shortly.

Come to hear information about admission requirements for our programs, scholarships, and upcoming application deadlines, plus some advice on helping your student transition successfully to life in university. PARENTS AS EDUCATORS & CAREER COACHES -  Jan 30   Are you the parent of a high school student? Would you like to help them with their post-secondary choices? This is an interactive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need.  Educational Planner is presenting "Parents as Education and Career Coaches" on THURSDAY January 30th at Stelly's Secondary School, at 6:30 pm.
