Reminder to GRAD PARENTS that TONIGHT there is a Virtual Grad Parent Info Session from 6:30-8pm. Please go to the Stelly's website and at the top is a button to join the meeting!
EARLY DISMISSAL Thursday Oct. 8 - A reminder to students and parents that TOMORROW (Thursday) is an early dismissal (one hour early), so that staff can prepare for parent-teacher interviews in the evening. The class schedule will be:
Block 1 - 8:30am - 11:00 am
Lunch - 11:00am - 11:45am
Block 2 - 11:45am - 2:05pm

TRAINING & EDUCATION:
ALL GIRLS VIRTUAL STEM EVENT - All-Girls Events are an exciting opportunity for girls across BC to explore how they can use their creativity to help the world. Girls will learn about engineering design and will enjoy fun, hands-on activities led by current university students and meet inspiring mentors. All events are free of cost. All events in the 2020/21 school year will be offered virtually – you will need a device (laptop or desktop computer) at home in order to participate. UBC ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE OPEN HOUSE - Saturday, November 7, 2020. Connect with professors, staff, and students to explore everything UBC Engineering and the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture has to offer. This event will be held virtually this year, you will still get to see inside labs, learn about programs, go on virtual tours, and talk to advisors, professors, and current students about all your options. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
VOLUNTEER VICTORIA YOUTH 20/20 - This program offers priceless opportunities for youth members to build self esteem, leadership and communication skills. The goal is to help youth succeed at volunteering and to provide the tools and support they need as they explore their volunteering options. CANUCKS AUTISM NETWORK provides year-round sports and recreation programs for individuals with autism. Their volunteers work in a fun and fast-paced sports and recreation environment offering high levels of support to their participants (most programs offer 1-1 support). Volunteers do not need any prior experience to be part of their programs – a training session as well as hands-on training during the program will be provided. A number of different sports, social, recreation, and other programs are run in Victoria. Programs take place on weekday evenings and weekends and last for one to three hours, depending on the selected program. Volunteers would be asked to support a program, once per week, for one season. Alternatively, volunteers can join substitute lists to step in and lend a hand when needed! Students interested in volunteering can visit www.canucksautism.ca/volunteer or send an email to volunteer@canucksautism.ca with any questions. Please note that volunteers must be 16 years or older.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
YOUTH AT THE BOOTH ELECTION WORKERS - Interested in working as an election official on Saturday, October 24th. Participants can earn at least $350 for attending training and working a full day. Youth at the Booth is Elections BC’s program to hire high school students as election officials in the 2020 Provincial General Election. Applicants must be between 15 and 19 years old, legally entitled to work in Canada, have a valid SIN and their parent or guardian’s approval to apply. GRAD PORTRAITS: November 2nd - 13th Grads, it is time to book your grad photos. Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Stelly's for a limited time: Monday, November 2nd through November 13th, 2020. To book your appointment, please go to the Lifetouch Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca Enter your province (BC), your city (Victoria) and your school (Stelly's) to log in and book your appointment. Don't put this off until later, or all of the appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time. Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).
