GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today the CAFETERIA has the choice of a Toonie wrap, Roasted Chicken Bacon & Cheese on Focaccia bread, Cobb Salad, Chicken or Veggie Quesadilla, Baked Pasta & Chorizo in tomato sauce or Mexican Tortilla Soup.  Come on down and check it out!

GRADS ... Reminder that Grad Diploma Verification forms are now past due! Forms are available in the Career Centre. This must be done to Graduate!

BREAKFAST CLUB  is happening tomorrow morning! Bagels and juice will be $.25. It's a great, cheap and easy way to start your day!  Come join the fun!

Just a reminder .... MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156 and AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELP is every Monday through Thursday in the Learning Commons until 4pm.

ATHLETICS

Any Grade 9 &10 Boys Interested in Basketball are asked to attend a meeting on Wednesday at Lunch in the Large Gym. See Mr. Braun if you can't make it!

CLUBS

ANY Students interested in being involved in planning and installing a native plant garden, we have 2 ethnobotonists --Earl Claxton Jr. and Judith Lyn Arney coming to help us start our planning of the garden. Please come to room 164 today promptly at lunch. and we will proceed outside for our tour.  See Mr. Siebert for details rm 164

SHEBIZ 2020 VIRTUAL EVENT - Wed. TRADES EXPLORATION (TEx Program) - Want to learn more about what it is like to work as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, or welder?  There are limited seats available for next year’s Quarter 3 Trades Exploration Program, provided in partnership with Camosun College. Learn about each trade, fast track your future and earn up to 8 credits toward grad for completing 2 courses!  Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

SAANICH SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP & CARPENTRY PROGRAM is a full 2nd semester immersion program where students learn the basics of constructing a wood frame structure from the bare ground to the rooftop. This program blends both theoretical knowledge and practical application of skills and concepts related to the trade. Successful students transition directly to Camosun College for further training as Level One Carpentry Apprentices. Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

HighTechU 2020-21 Internship - Application deadline is Wed, Nov 25   - HighTechU is hiring a number of High-School Software Development Interns part-time starting at the end of November until the end of February 2021. These positions will be virtual and will work directly for HighTechU, building out a selection of the projects created during the Academy for release as free and open source (FOSS) applications:  https://hightechu.github.io/portolio/   Applicants must be currently registered in a BC high-school and must be over the age of 15 to be eligible (see job description for details).  More details on the application process and the job description can be found at: https://github.com.hightechu/internship-application-CSJ-2020 

GRAD 2021

AFTER GRAD FUNDRAISER:  Grads ... your gift card fundraiser forms are located on the Grad board in the main foyer. We are selling gift cards from local businesses this Christmas to raise money for the 2021 Grad and the businesses will give us a portion of the sales!  Forms due Dec 4th, 2020

GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE - SATURDAY, November 28th from 9am-12pm.  Grads and parents we have another bottle drop-off and sorting day coming up this Saturday November 28th from 9am to noon. We are short of volunteers, please remember that the money raised benefits all the grads. Also, the grads can earn some of the volunteer hours to graduate.
