Hey Stingers ... Pink Shirt Day is happening on Wednesday, February 24th – this day is celebrated annually around the globe. Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students who took a stand against bullying after a 10-year-old was harassed and threatened for wearing pink.  We have some Awesome Pink Shirts for sale in the main office ... only $10 each come check them out! 

Did you know that Mary Ann Shadd Cary was the first woman to become a publisher in Canada? She arrived in the country as American slaves were escaping to freedom via the Underground Railroad and devoted herself to teaching the children of former slaves arriving in Canada. She later returned to the United States and was active in the women's suffrage movement.  Come to the Learning Commons to learn more about Black History Month.

Reminder to Grade 12's... The Capstone presentation Schedule is now posted in the Career Centre, On the Grad Board and on the bulletin board outside Ms. Lizama's room or on Google classroom. The Capstone presentation date is this Thursday ... so be prepared!

MASKS: Reminder that masks are required at all times when students and staff are in hallways and washrooms.  Everyone's cooperation is much appreciated.

STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A DOCTOR?   Earn your MD on Vancouver Island at the University of Victoria.  Island Medical Program (IMP) delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria & Island Health is offering an online Open house on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 6:30 pm. – 8:00 pm.  At this special virtual evening information session, students will learn about the IMP and UBC MD Undergraduate Program, our admissions process, what it takes to become a doctor, and what it’s like being in medical school.  A Q&A period will follow the presentation.  Everyone is welcome (including guardians, teachers, and counsellors, and admission is free.  Simply go to https://imp.med.ubc.ca/infosessionfeb2021/

ALERT FIRST AID with CPR ”C” & AED - Online and in class - Friday, April 23, 2021 - 12:00 am to 4:00 pm in class @ SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  Cost is $50.00 - Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted.  4 hours online and 4.5 hours in-class course trains people how to react and improvise during time priority and life-threatening emergencies.  The online component covers care for adults, children, and babies. The classroom component will focus on developing the participant’s skills. The instructor will know that participants have completed the online component, and won’t spend as much time on the background information that is covered here.  Participants must successfully complete both the online and the classroom components to be certified in Emergency First-Aid with CPR C .  For more details see the Career Centre Info Board or the Saanich Career Education website.  Register now!
