GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Turkey Panini with Roasted Red Peppers & Artichokes, Sweet & Spicy Bacon Chicken Wrap, Chicken Caesar Salad, Nigerian Curry Chicken Bowl, Mac & Cheese or a Chicken Quesadilla.      Come on down and check it out!

NUMERACY & LITERACY EXAMS are coming up in the middle of June ... please see Mr. Braun in the main office if you want to register.

Reminder to Grade 9’s to bring in your “MYBLUEPRINT” forms to the main office or your 1st block teacher ASAP!

SCHOOL BUS REGISTRATION FOR 2021-2022 - School bus registration for next school year is now open until June 20th. To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website:  https://www.sd63.bc.ca/programs-and-services/transportation

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.  

JUST A REMINDER .... MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156 and AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELP is every Monday through Thursday in the Learning Commons until 4pm.

CAREER CENTRE

TEAC 105 - EXPLORATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY - Calling All Technology & Engineering Enthusiasts…  TEAC is a Dual Credit course that provides an introduction to careers and basic skills in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Civil Engineering and Computer Science.  This 4-credit course, Friday nights from 3:00- 6:00 at the Camosun Interurban Campus 3 hours per week, for 13 weeks.  For more information see the Saanich Career Education website at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/    ... under the Training, Workshops and Camps tab. To apply see the Career Centre!

ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE - Please join the District Youth Exchange Committee to find out more about the short term and long term student exchange opportunities we are looking forward to in 2022/23 and the positive impact the program can have.   They are holding a district wide information session Wednesday June 2nd @ 6:30pm via Zoom for all students who are interested in going on exchange in the 2022/23 school year. Anyone interested in finding out more about the program is welcome to attend: students, youth exchange officers, counselors, family and friends of potential students. Interested students need to register for the info session by visiting www.rye5020.org   See Mrs. Fitzgerald in the counselling office.

CAMP IGNITE – SUMMER 2021  - Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18 that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. The plan this year is to run a 2-day camp (no overnight) on August 14 & 15; one day in Vancouver and one day in North Vancouver.  Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Application deadline is June 1. WEST (WELLNESS EMPLOYMENT SKILLS TRAINING) programs are currently recruiting!  Are you … between the ages of 15-30? SAANICH YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMER PLACEMENT PROGRAM - Are you interested in spending your summer working with kids? Do you want to be a leader in your community and work with diverse individuals?  This summer, Saanich is offering a Mentored Placement Program for youth 14–17 years old. Participants in this program will have the chance to work in an outdoor camp setting with kids and a personal staff mentor. A REMINDER TO GRADE 12 STUDENTS that you need to pay your fees and return your overdue books before the Grad filming day on June 12th: 22 students have overdue books and 40 students owe fees.  If your name is not on the Grad eligibility list that is posted on the Counselling window, see Ms. Batham in the main office for more information.
