GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Meatloaf sandwich on Focaccia, Chicken Caesar Salad, Meat Ravioli, Kung Pao Chicken on Rice with Naan bread, Perogies or Homemade pizza (Hawaiian, Cheese, BBQ chicken or Veggie)

SCHOOL LOGO SURVEY - We are working to create a more accessible logo design for Stelly's!  While we have no specific designs to put forward, we would like your feedback in guiding our search. The examples in the form belong to existing teams and organizations. They are included to give a sense of style and possibly. Stelly's final logo design will be an original design based on the feedback provided. Links for students are in the grade level Google Classrooms

STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156.

CLUBS

SOCIAL JUSTICE CLUB: Stelly's Social Justice Club, recently called “Youth In Action”, will be starting on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at lunch in room 30.  All students and staff are welcome to join us as we choose ways to actively make a difference in the world.  See Mrs. Wallace in room 30 for more info. 

GARDEN CLUB: First official meeting of the gardening club will be tomorrow Thursday October 14th at lunch in Rm 40. See Mr. Siebert for more information if you are interested.

ART CLUB starts next Tuesday October 19th right after school until 4:30pm. Any questions see Mr. Strutynski in the Art Room!

CAREER CENTRE

YOUNG CANADIANS PARLIMENT (YCP) – a growing movement of young people under 18 are advocating for their rights and joining forces to become a powerful voice for our generation. If you join ... So, what’s in it for you?

  • You’ll meet other kids and youth in Canada and become a part of the YCP community
  • You’ll get to share issues you care about with government leaders
  • You’ll learn more ways to take action, get involved and make a difference!
  • You will receive volunteer hours for your time with YCP!

QUANTUM COMPUTING FOR YOUTH - Sunday, October 17, 2021  9:45 am-4:15 pm via Zoom.  Pathways2Quantum is a one-day virtual workshop for high school students who are curious and interested in Quantum Computing.  For more information and to register see the Saanich Career Education website at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

ALERT FIRST AID with CPR ”C” & AED - NEW FORMAT: Blended online and in class.  Online: emailed to you two weeks prior to class date and on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 - 12:00 am to 4:30 pm in class  @ SHOAL Centre 10030 Resthaven Drive.  Cost is $50.00 - Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted.  CRC Emergency First-Aid with CPR "C" Blended Learning - This fun and interactive 4 hours online and 4.5 hours in-class course trains people how to react and improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies.  The online component covers care for adults, children, and babies. FOODSAFE LEVEL 1 - Saturday, November 13th, 2021 - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm @   SHOAL Centre 10030 Resthaven Drive Cost is $50.00 (Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted).  Food safe Level 1 - This 8 hour food handling, sanitation and work safety course is designed for front line food service workers such as cooks, servers, bussers, dishwashers and deli workers. The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing. VIRTUAL PARENTS NIGHT AT UVIC ON NOV 24th at 6pm - Parent nights are for parents and guardians of high school students, but your students are welcome to join you! In these online events, we'll answer your questions about admission requirements, scholarships and upcoming application deadlines, and offer advice on helping your children successfully transition to life in university. Events are scheduled in Pacific Time. GRAD 2022

PARENTS VIRTUAL GRAD MEETING is being held on Thursday evening at 6pm. Check out Website on Thursday for a link to the meeting. All Grad parents are asked to attend!

PARENT COMMITTEE for GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, October 23rd from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.   Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the yearend grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account. INTERNATIONAL

WHALE WATCHING MEETING: All International Students going on the Whale Watching Trip on Friday are asked to meet TODAY in Room 24 at the beginning of lunch for an important meeting. 

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

2021 GRAD DIPLOMA: Parents if you have an older child who graduated in June 2021, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup.  Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.
