GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Beef Dip with Mozza onions and Au Jus, Cajun Chicken Caesar Wrap, Caesar Salad, BBQ Ribs, mashed potatoes & Cornbread, Spicy Peanut Coconut Chicken on Rice Noodles, Baked Rose sauce with Beef Tortellini or Tofu Udon Noodle Toss.  Come on Down and check it out!

INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP MEETING at lunch on Friday in the Learning Commons.  Lunch will be provided and we will have a presentation from the Moosehide Campaign.

STELLY'S GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES STUDENTS are raising money for environmental research on the west coast of Vancouver Island by hosting their 21st annual Global Gala on Thursday, November 25th.  From 5pm-9pm, the Gala will include lectures about current environmental issues and previous Global Perspectives trips, musical performances, light snacks and appetizers, and a silent auction. Tickets are $15 and are available from students or at the door.

SCHOOL BUS CARDS are available to pick up from the main office!  The bus drivers will be expecting students to show their bus cards. 

STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in Rm 156 & AFTER SCHOOL HELP is in the Learning Commons.  Monday & Wednesday is Math & Science and on Tuesday & Thursday is Humanities. All Session run after school until 4pm.

UVIC FACULTY OPEN HOUSES - We are underway with offering our faculty open houses, where students have the chance to explore our faculties, their programs, and the unique opportunities available in those areas of study. The remaining faculty events are as follows:

November 29th @ 5:00pm        Social Sciences

November 30th @ 6:00pm        Humanities

CANADIAN COAST GUARD COLLEGE - Register for a virtual presentation hosted by the Canadian Coast Guard College, "Discover the Officer Training Program." (Once you register, you will be sent a scheduler link and then you will be allowed to choose a time that works best for you) The four-year Officer Training Program is one of the best marine training programs in the world, producing both Marine Engineering Officers and Marine Navigation Officers. Graduates of the CCGC receive a Canadian Coast Guard College Diploma, a Bachelor of Technology in Nautical Sciences, a Commercial Certification issued by Transport Canada, continued employment with the Canadian Coast Guard, and internationally recognized certification.  To register go to the Saanich Career Education website https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

VIRTUAL PARENTS NIGHT AT UVIC ON NOV 24th at 6pm - Parent nights are for parents and guardians of high school students, but your students are welcome to join you! In these online events, we'll answer your questions about admission requirements, scholarships and upcoming application deadlines, and offer advice on helping your children successfully transition to life in university. Events are scheduled in Pacific Time. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The 13th annual Gingerbread Showcase - Habitat Victoria's Annual Fundraiser is fast approaching and we need YOUR help hosting the many visitors that come out to view and vote for their favourite creation.  We have four different locations to volunteer at this year: 

  • The Parkside Hotel & Spa (810 Humboldt St) 
  • Chateau Victoria Hotel & Suites (740 Burdett Ave)
  • Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour (728 Humboldt St)
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (777 Douglas St)

GRAD WINTER FORMAL 
is an evening of fun and festive treats on December 8, 2021 from 6:30pm-9pm.  Tickets $25.  On sale November 29 - December 6th Check out @stellysgrad Insta stories for more details, FAQs and song requests.

IT IS GRAD QUOTE TIME! A form is available on the Grad Google Classroom and needs to be filled out. The deadline is DECEMBER 17th, 2021.  Your write up will appear beside your photo in the yearbook, other photos may appear in the yearbook.   This year I have asked for some videos that may be used later in the year for grad related activities.  If you need help filling this out please come and find Mr. Hart.  Do it this weekend so you do not need to worry as the deadline approaches. The form will be closed on December 18th and the page will be made, do not miss this deadline.

GRAD FUNDRAISER - Come support your Stelly’s Parent After Grad Committee in fundraising for the 2022 Grad Class with a Meat Draw and 50/50 Draw at Brewsky's Tap house. Meat draw prizes are prepared and packaged by our local Fraser Orr Butcher. Packages range from wonderful selections of choice cut meats to marinated meats, sausages and pies.  Draws happen between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, November 27th, 2021. Come enjoy the excitement and buy your $1 tickets supporting a great cause.

MAGIC WAND PROJECT:  Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, November 27th from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.   Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account.

SAANICH PENNINSULA YOUTH CLINIC is operating through Telehealth tonight from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.
