GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of an Artichoke and Ham Panini with roasted peppers, Bacon & Chicken Ranch Wrap, Mac & Cheese, Jambalaya Rice Bowl, Black & Blue Chicken Salad or Thai Spiced Yam Ginger Coconut Chicken Soup. Come on Down and check it out!

Congratulations to our Senior Boys Rugby Team for winning 1st place in the Provincial Championships on Friday! Way to go Stingers! You make us Proud!

SCHOOL BUS REGISTRATION for 2022-2023 - Registration is now open for students to ride the school bus for the next 2022-2023 school year.  Students must be registered with SD63 Transportation Department and hold a current year bus pass in order to ride on the bus.  Registration is on-line, and you will need the following information when registering: Student Name, School, Grade, Student Number. Registration is on the SD#63 website. Registration will close June 15, 2022.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

HOMEWORK HELP: Before School Homework help is at 7:15am in Room 46 and After School Homework Help is in the Learning Commons 4 days a week Monday thru Thursday until 4:00 pm for Math and Science. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for support with English and Social Studies.

CLUBS

This Wednesday and Thursday Indigenous Leadership will be fundraising to incorporate more Indigenous plants into the school garden. We are selling many kinds of garden plants, including walking onions, strawberries, Hydrangeas, figs and tomatoes, and more! We will be in the main Foyer on June 8th and 9th at lunch. Father’s Day is around the corner, so surprise a dad in your life with a unique gift!  Indigenous Leadership meets at lunch on Tuesday to prepare for our Plant Sale Fundraiser. See you in Room 33!

France and Italy 2024! Stelly's is once again hosting an amazing trip to France and Italy on Spring Break of 2024. We will be visiting Paris, Nice, Florence and Rome over 11 days This tour is open to all Stelly's students. Please see Ms. Liberatore in room 51 or email tliberatore@saanichschools.ca for more information. 

CAREER CENTRE

BC REGIONAL COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS - “Plan A” Summer Youth Employment Program.  Get PAID to Learn a Trade.  It’s a skill you will have forever!  No experience required!  Visit your Career Centre for more details and for an application!

CANADIAN COAST GUARD DAYS -  Friday, June 10th, Victoria Base (25 Huron St.)  Have you ever considered a career with the Coast Guard?  Check out several booths and demonstrations highlighting who we are and the type of work we do from helicopter operations, vessel tour, search and rescue, aids to navigation, and more…  If interested see Mr. Bailey in Room #27.

CAMOSUN BRIDGE WATCH RATING PROGRAM  -  High school graduates can begin their career at sea! Indigenous people and women who are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents are invited to participate in the fully-funded Bridge Watch Rating program.  You will learn and enhance seamanship skills, earn nationally-recognized certifications, and embark upon an exciting, entry-level career in the Marine industry. For more information see the Saanich Career Education website at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/ under the Post Secondary School/University Information tab.

CENTRAL SAANICH LIONS CLUB is looking for volunteers for the following events:

-Saturday, June 11, at 9:00 am - 11:30 am. Clean up at our Lions Hall (6994 East Saanich Rd.).  

-Saturday, June 19, at 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. Pancake breakfast.  Father's Day Prostate Walk (Camosun College parking lot on Markham Rd, Interurban Campus).  

-Saturday, June 25, at 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, St. Stephen’s Church Concert (7921 St. Stephens Road, off Mt Newton X Rd.)

Sunday, July 10th, at 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM (either morning or afternoon) at Heritage Acres (7321 Lochside)

Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 am to 3:00 pm Deuce Days Car Show (TBA West Burnside Road).

MAGIC WAND PROJECT ... Why buy a Grad Tux or Dress when you can borrow one. The Magic Wand offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. HOST FAMILIES NEEDED:  Saanich International Student Program (SISP) is actively looking for new Host Families for our International students joining us at the end of August 2022.  Make lifelong friendships, provide a student with a home away from home and share the beauty of your community!  If you are interested in this opportunity, host families are provided:
