GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

PJ DAY: Celebrate the last Monday in September in comfort. PJ day is Monday, September 25th!

SPRING BREAK 2018 TRIP   Are you interested in travel, history, shopping, good food, and meeting new people?  If so, consider traveling with us to Quebec City, Montreal, and Ottawa for 7 days in Spring Break of 2018.  This is a great opportunity for all Stelly's students to learn more about Canada and see some of our oldest and most important cities.  We will have an information meeting for students and parents on Thursday, September 28 at 5:30pm in room 108.  Come to the school BBQ at 5pm and bring your food to the meeting before Meet the Teacher night at 6pm.  You can also see Mrs Wallace in room 108 or email her for more information.

CLUBS

PHILOSOPHY CLUB: The first meeting of the Philosophy club is at lunch today in Rm 112 It's an introductory meeting for anyone interested

Stelly's Youth In Action club is meeting today at lunch in room 108. This club is open to any student or staff and is about social justice and helping others in our school and in our world.  Bring your lunch and come meet us and learn what we hope to do this year and how you might choose to be involved.  If you are not able to attend, drop by room 108 some time and speak with Mrs Wallace about the club.  We can keep you informed via email and you can participate in any activities your schedule will allow.  

ATHLETICS

JR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: All Jr girl volleyball players to please meet in room 106 at break today.

JR BOYS SOCCER: Mandatory meeting at lunch in the small gym

SAILING CLUB: Sailing Club is starting Sept 30th.  If you are interested in sailing this fall please pick up an application form from the office or contact Christine Bennett at cbennett@sd63.bc.ca.

Peninsula Pizza is hiring a delivery driver position. Must have reliable vehicle and "N" or fully graduated licence.Hourly rate: $11.35 plus tips. Mileage paid out at $2.00 per delivery.For a full list of duties see the Career Centre Job Board

Training Opportunities
Please come to the Career Centre for more information about these training opportunities:
1: 
Retail Training  (FREE)  4 Sundays in October: Oct 1,15,22,29 (not Thanksgiving Sunday) at a Brentwood Bay Thrift Store. This certificate program prepares you for first time work experiences in retail and many other work environments. 
2: 
Friday, Oct. 20th Pro-D Day - 8:30- 4:30 pm. ($50). 
3:
  Basics of Banking & Finance, Oct. 28th (FREE).
4: 
First Aid With CPR & AED, Nov. 24th ($50).

Work Experience 12A & 12B Registration Deadline
Reminder that the Work Experience 12A & 12B registration deadline is September 28th! Employed students wishing to achieve work experience credits for this year must be registered by this date.  Please see Mr. Rhodes ASAP in the Career Centre to register!


GRAD 2018

GRAD MONTHLY BOTTLE DRIVE FUNDRAISER:  Bring your bottles, cans and other beverage returnables to Stelly’s on Saturday, September 23rd from 9 am to noon to support the Grad Class of 2018.

INTERNATIONAL:

SISP Whistler Ski Trip - December 6th – 8th : Forms are available in the International Office. Cost $525  Last day to Sign-up is October 5, 2017.

PARENTS:

MEET THE TEACHER - Thursday, September 28th : Come out and meet our staff on September 28th at the Meet the teacher BBQ at 5pm. Following the BBQ at 6PM, we will meet in the Gym for a Welcome address from our principal followed by a rotation of your students class schedule.

BREAKFAST CLUB VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Stellys Breakfast Program needs parent volunteer help. 7:30am-9am Wednesday and Friday mornings. Please contact Leila at leilanazaroff@gmail.com if you are able to help
