GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to the Stinger swim team!All 12 members of the  Stelly's swim team qualified for bc high school provincials this weekend. Special shoutout to Lauren Mosher who won the Bob Smirl award for outstanding contributions swimming for her leadership, sportsmanship and ability. Lauren also qualified in 3/4 events she swam in the open category. Liam Ayres and Halden Craig also had outstanding races. Provincials are on November 17th and 18th in Richmond. GOOOO STINGERS!!!

Also a big congratulations to Isaiah Carvalahl-Smith (Sting Bass)  and Josh Lau (Violin) for their performance this past weekend at the annual British Columbia Music Educators Association Conference. Josh was selected to be a member of the honour sting orchestra and Isaiah was selected to be a member of the honour jazz band. Students are selected from all over British Columbia to be members of the honour groups. Way to represent Stelly's at such an elite level!

BLOW OUT THE DUST MUSIC CONCERT: The first music concert of the year is happening on Wednesday, October 25th at 7pm in the MPR. Everyone Welcome!

JR BOYS SOCCER: Can all junior boys soccer players please meet at the small gym at break to discuss rides to your game at Barefoot today and play-offs this week!

HOMEWORK HELP: Homework Help is now available Tuesday through Friday mornings starting at 7:30am and after school in the Learning Commons Monday through Friday until 4pm.

ATHLETICS

ROWING: Reminder to ALL rowers that we will be doing our team photo at the lake tomorrow (Tuesday, October 24th) at 4:00pm just before practice starts. Please remember to bring your team racing uniform!

JR GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: Any grade 9 or 10 girls interested in playing basketball this year the first tryout will be Tuesday, Oct 24th at 5 pm in the small gym.

CAREER CENTRE

Are you interested in the PLUMBING or PIPE INSULATION  TRADES? A local company is looking to HIRE apprentices!! Interested??  Come to the Career Centre to talk to Mr. Rhodes!

GRAD 2018

P.S.I.B.C EVENT:  Interested in attending a Post Secondary Institute within BC? Maybe UVIC, Camosun, SFU or VIU? On Thursday, October 26th from 6:30pm – 8:10pm. Stelly's is hosting the Annual Post Secondary Institutes of BC event. It is a great event to gather more information, ask questions, find out about admission requirements or specific programs!

Grad Portraits
Reminder to Grads: make sure you book your grad photos ASAP!   To book you appointment, please go to the Lifetouch website: www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.   Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment.  Information brochures are available on the Grad board in the main foyer.

Vancouver Day Trip - November 15th

Registration forms for the International Student Vancouver Day Trip are due by this ThursdayOctober 26.

PARENTS:

STELLY'S PARENTS 1st AFTER GRAD 2018 MEETING on Tuesday at 7pm in the Learning Commons. The goal is to provide Stelly's students the opportunity to celebrate the milestone of graduation in a safe environment free of drugs and alcohol. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to volunteer, there are many positions available!

PARENTS AS CAREER COACHES: The Saanich District #63  Career Teachers are pleased to sponsor an evening seminar  for parents and guardians on Monday November 6th at 6:30pm at Stelly's. Marion Haythorne, a Capilano instructor, leads parents through an engaging seminar using interactive activities to explore interests/values and career pathways for their children. This seminar is not just for parents of Grade 12 students, but for all parents of High School aged students!

BREAKFAST CLUB VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Stellys Breakfast Program needs parent volunteer help. 7:30am-9am Wednesday and Friday mornings. Please contact Leila at leilanazaroff@gmail.com if you are able to help!
