TEXTBOOKS, TEXTBOOKS, TEXTBOOKS: REMINDER to RETURN YOUR TEXTBOOKS ASAP! Students who have outstanding textbooks from 1st semester will not be issued textbooks for 2nd semester until they are returned!

NEW STUDENTS for SEMESTER 2
If you are a student starting at Stelly's for semester 2, please come to the office to get an important form to allow you to open a Google Student Account for your school work.

AN EVENING OF PERFORMING ARTS:  Stelly's Performing Arts department presents "An Evening of Performing Arts on Friday, January 26th at 7pm. Performances by Dance, Vocal Jazz and musical Theatre classes. Tickets available from the main office. Adults $7.00, $5.00 Students

BASICS OF FINANCE - "Credits & Loans: Course January 27th   10:00 am–11:30 am – FREE! At the SHOAL Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive, Sidney. In this session you will learn all about credit cards and pre-paid cards and loans, the advantages and disadvantages, what to look for and how to calculate the “real” cost of a loan.

NEW COURSE OFFERED FOR SEMESTER 2:

School Based and Dual Credit Trades course.  There are 2 Parts to this  program for 4-16 credits

Part 1:Tool Time” (with Tim): Arouse your spirit of inventiveness and develop confidence and competence as you become an expert at using a wide array of hand and power tools as well as stationary equipment in a fun and safe setting. Tool timid? You’ll get over your inhibitions as you experience success using all sorts of new tools. Bit of a tool expert? Take it to the next level and enhance your skills by creating and building cool artifacts with your new found expertise. 

Students who successfully complete this course will not only have a wealth of new skills and knowledge, but they will earn 4 credits for a “dual credit” college level course for the online learning component as well as a 4-credit Tech Ed course.  The dual credit college course also serves as a prerequisite to Camosun College’s NEW Marine Industry TASk Program (running this summer) as well as meeting the common core tool competencies for Camosun College’s Plumbing and Pipe Trades Foundation program and the Electrical Foundation program.  Upgrade your skills and qualifications as well as acquiring valuable life skills by enrolling in Tool Time with Tech Ed teacher, Tim Lockhart in second semester. Women in Trades and Technology Exploration Day is taking place at Camosun College on Wednesday, February 21st, from 9:30-2:00. Check out important and well paying careers in the following:
Trades - Electrical, Auto Service, Sheet Metal/Metal Fab, and Carpentry.
Technology- Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering. For more information or to sign up, please come to the Career Centre.

GRAD 2018

GRAD BOTTLE & SHREDDING FUNDRAISER – THIS SATURDAY Jan 27th

Grad Bottle Drive this Saturday from 9am to Noon. Grad Shredding Fundraiser 10am - noon. Both are in the Stelly's Parking lot. All proceeds are put towards the Stelly's 2018 Dry After Grad. Thank you for your continued support!

GRAD & PARENT CONTACT FORMS:  A purple Grad & Parent Information Contact form was included in the package of forms sent home in September. Only 40 were returned to the office. These forms are needed in order to contact Grads and their parents to inform of upcoming events and participation in grad activities! If you have not done so please come to the main office and pick up a form to submit ASAP.

2018 Vancouver Island Parent Conference: Parenting Now for the Future. Saturday March 3, 8:30-4:00 @ Royal Bay Secondary School. FRENCH IMMERSION NEWS:

You're invited to ...  A bilingual celebration of "Saanich's Core French & French Immersion Story"

We would be an honoured to have you join us to take part of this bilingual celebration of "Saanich's Core French & French Immersion Story" presented by the Amis-mots STA Priority's funding. French language Gr.12 students, students who have graduated from Core French or FI programmes, retired teachers and Core French & FI teachers are all invited!

Here are some topics of conversation to be explored as we uncover the story:

   * How are members of our community connected intergenerationally through the teaching and learning of French?

   * Who is learning and teaching French as part of our Saanich family?

   * Special interviews will be conducted between graduated students and their past teachers.

   * Special Guests: Students who have graduated from our language programs, retired language teachers & Brad Hart and his Stelly’s multimedia team!

We certainly hope that you will be able to attend, reconnect with friends and share your story!
