GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

GRAD TRANSITION INTERVIEW DAY is tomorrow! Grads make sure you know your assigned interview time and come dressed as though it was a job inteview!

HOMEWORK HELP: Don't forget...Homework Help is available everyday in the Learning Commons starting at 7:30am and after school until 4pm.

ATHLETICS  

Track and Field Meeting at lunch in Mr. Smyth's room (room 162). This is the final week to indicate your intention of competing with Stelly's. Next Track meet on Wednesday.

CAREER CENTRE

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

FREE  RETAIL TRAINING - May & June in Sidney and Brentwood - full day - Sundays for 4 weeks from 10:00 - 4:00 pm. This certificate program prepares you for first time work experiences in retail and many other work environments.  You will be treated as an employee and you will be working alongside a busy team of staff members who are depending on you just as they would any employee. You will have training in: Working a cash register and counting cash - Customer service - Creating displays - Sorting inventory - Assisting with pricing - Opening & closing procedures

TALE - Tourism and Leadership Exploration -SD61 and West Coast Adventure College have partnered together to offer an amazing 8-week summer program for students interested in exploring the Adventure Tourism Industry. The program runs from in July and August 2017 (exact dates TBD)

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm with the following schedule: July 2017: Local Victoria Parks & Trails, Uplands Campus & August 2017: Work Experience with Local Companies. If you are interested in applying for the TALE program or finding out more about the program, come to the Career Centre

ALERT FIRST AID with CPR”C”& AED Saturday, May 5, 2018 - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre  Cost is $50.00.  This fun & interactive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. This course also includes recognition & first-aid treatment for head & spine injuries, shock, bleeds, anaphylactic shock, heart attacks & strokes. Participants spend the majority of the course doing hands on first-aid training. By practising with scenarios students gain confidence & learn to react & improvise in emergency situations. MAGIC WAND
The Magic Wand is a non-profit organization that offers an eco-friendly and inexpensive alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys.  The Magic Wand  is for ANY grad to borrow a dress or tux, rather than buy (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge).  All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included.  To book an appointment to view the selection of available clothes, phone 250-658-0246.

On-line auction by the parents/guardians of the Stelly’s 2018 graduating class OPENS TODAY! Our goal is to give the grads an alcohol-free event to attend where lots of fun will be had and memories made in a safe environment.
