GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

REPORT CARDS: Report Cards are available for pick up from the office!

GRAD 2019: All students expecting to graduate in the upcoming 2019 year, please create a Facebook page using your first and last names. A Facebook group for 2019 graduates is coming soon and will be used for votes, important announcements and reminders!

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS: Parent Teacher Interviews are on Thursday, May 3rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Appointment bookings are online. Early Dismissal on Thursday at 2:03pm.

HOMEWORK HELP: Don't forget...Homework Help is available everyday in the Learning Commons starting at 7:30am and after school until 4pm.

ATHLETICS

VOLLEYBALL: Interested in playing Volleyball? There will be an open gym for Volleyball after school today in the big gym from 3-4:30pm.

KAYAK & PADDLING CLUB: Interested in kayaking or paddling? We are starting at club at Stelly’s this month!. Come to a meeting today at lunch in Room 112 to find out more! If you can't make the meeting see Ms. Matheson for more details!

CAREER CENTRE

Employment Advisor Visit – Thursday, May 24th
Save the date for a visit from Employment Advisor, Lana Millot, next week on Thursday, May 24th, at lunch in the Career Centre. Learn about how to get started with getting a job or how to get training for the job you want. Also, she will have information on how to get funding for Forklift Training, Traffic Control Ticket, Serving It Right, First Aid and more.

OSEF Student Exchange - Application Deadline
There is still time to apply for a 2018/2019 exchange to Europe with OSEF. Experience France, Belgium or Spain for 1 month this summer or 11 weeks next year with a reciprocal exchange program. Application submission deadline is approaching quickly. Please see the Career Centre for more information.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

FOODSAFE Level 1 - Monday, June 9th, 2018   8:30 am – 4:30 pm SHOAL Centre 10030 Resthaven Drive (bring your lunch). Cost is $50.00 due June 1st . Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated. ALERT FIRST AID with CPR”C”& AED Saturday, May 5, 2018 - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre  Cost is $50.00.  This fun & interactive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. This course also includes recognition & first-aid treatment for head & spine injuries, shock, bleeds, anaphylactic shock, heart attacks & strokes. Participants spend the majority of the course doing hands on first-aid training. By practising with scenarios students gain confidence & learn to react & improvise in emergency situations.
