GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

WEDNESDAY is TERRY FOX DAY AT STELLY'S !... in celebration of our Canadian Hero, Terry Fox,  we are encouraging all students and staff to bring a twoonie or more to raise funds for cancer research!

CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT: The Canadian Universities Event is happening today at Stelly's in the Large Gym from 1-3pm. Universities and Colleges from across Canada will be attending and providing information on progams, entrance requirements etc. Great chance to see what post secondary options are out there!

KAYAK & PADDLING CLUB:  Are you interested in kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, and having fun outdoors? Stelly's Paddling and Outdoor Club is back up and running. First meeting is Thursday at lunch in Rm 113 to discuss club meeting times and activities.

ART CLUB: Reminder that Art Club starts after school today!  See Mr. S for more info.

ORANGE SHIRT DAY: On Friday, September 28th students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts to show respect for residential school survivors and their families.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday! Check it out!

MEET THE TEACHER - Thursday, September 27th - Come out and meet our staff on Thursday,September 27th at the Meet the teacher BBQ starting at 4:45pm. Following the BBQ at 5:30 pm we will meet at the entrance of the school for the Unveiling ceremony of a "welcome Sign Carving". At 6pm we will meet in the MPR with a Welcome address from our principal followed by a rotation of your students class schedule starting at 6:30pm. Please join us!

Operation: This IS You! FREE career event for GIRLS - Esquimalt, BC - Saturday, October 20th

Day Sail on a Royal Canadian Navy Warship Activities include tours of ship duty stations, crew quarters and operational equipment; Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) joint search and rescue demonstration, ship firefighting simulation, and demonstration of the warship’s impressive manoeuvring capabilities. HAIRSTYLIST APPRENTICESHIP - starting February 2019

Do you LOVE hair? Have you ever considered a career as a Hairstylist??  Are you a social person that likes people, enjoys being a team player that is motivated with a positive attitude? Hairstylist apprenticeships provide you with the training and qualifications you need to work in the aesthetics and beauty industry. Available to grade 10-11-12 students. Interested? See Mr. Rhodes in the Career Centre for an application package.

The BCSEA Victoria Chapter presents Youth Involvement Project” -  Connecting Students to the Low-Carbon Economy. Expanding high school students’ knowledge and interest in Renewable Energy (RE) and empowers them to explore career opportunities in the green economy. Scholarship Meeting - The first Scholarship meeting of the year will be on Wednesday at lunch in Room 116.  All grade 12’s are encouraged to attend.

Saanich Career Education presents "Parents as Informed Partners" at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney on Thursday, Oct. 4th at 7:00 pm. Learn about various specialty programs, "dual credit", post secondary and trades training while still in high school, hear from a parent & student panel, partner post secondary institutions, and much more! PAC MEETING- Oct 2nd - The first PAC meeting of the year is happening on Tuesday, Oct 2nd at 7pm in the Learning Commons. All Parents/guardians are welcome to attend!
