GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY is TERRY FOX DAY AT STELLY'S !... in celebration of our Canadian Hero, Terry Fox,  we are encouraging all students and staff to donate a twoonie or more to raise funds for cancer research! Go Stingers!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM who won both their games yesterday and remain undefeated this season! You ROCK Stingers!

MEET THE TEACHER - Thursday, September 27th - Come out and meet our staff on Thursday,September 27th at the Meet the teacher BBQ starting at 4:45pm. Following the BBQ at 5:30 pm we will meet at the entrance of the school for the Unveiling ceremony of a "welcome Sign Carving". At 6pm we will meet in the MPR with a Welcome address from our principal followed by a rotation of your students class schedule starting at 6:30pm. Please join us!

KAYAK & PADDLING CLUB:  Are you interested in kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, and having fun outdoors? Stelly's Paddling and Outdoor Club is back up and running. They're meeting at lunch this Thursday in Rm 113 (Mr. Heywood's room) to discuss club meeting times and activities.

BUS PASSES: If you have registered to ride the school bus, the bus passes have arrived!  Please come to the main office to pick them up. If you still need to register to ride the school bus, please register directly on the School District’s website:   www.sd63.bc.ca/programs-and-services/transportation

ORANGE SHIRT DAY: On Friday, September 28, students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts to show respect for residential school survivors and their families.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15 am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday! Check it out!

CAREER CENTRE

WORK EXPERIENCE 12A/12B

Reminder that the Work Experience 12A / 12B registration deadline is September 28th! If you have a job or are volunteering and are wishing to receive Work Experience credits for this year, you must be registered by September 28th to receive credit for your hours!! This time can also count toward your grade 12 Grad Transition requirement.See Mr. Rhodes in the Career Centre to register ASAP!

The BCSEA Victoria Chapter presents “Youth Involvement Project” -  Connecting Students to the Low-Carbon Economy. Expanding high school students’ knowledge and interest in Renewable Energy (RE) and empowers them to explore career opportunities in the green economy. Scholarship Meeting - The first Scholarship meeting of the year will be on Wednesday at lunch in Room 116.  All grade 12’s are encouraged to attend.

Pendray Farms Corn Maze
On SATURDAY September 29, Pendray Farms Corn Maze is teaming up with Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank: with a donation of a non-perishable food item, 1 child per family will be given free entry to the maze that day. Pendray Farms is at 9537 West Saanich Road, North Saanich.  

SCOUTS CANADA: The 10th Tsartlip Ventures (Scouts Canada program for boys and girls aged 14-18) have developed their outdoor plan for 2018-2019.  Their focus this year is on camping and day hikes.  The Venturers are not meeting every week; they normally meet to plan their outdoor activities such as camps or hikes.  If you would like a summary of the Venturer program or have any questions, please email 10tsartlip@victoriascouts.ca.  We can put you in touch with a Venturer who attends Stelly’s.

PENINSULA SOCCER ASSOC.  is looking for players! Girls ages between 13-15 yrs wanting to play soccer ....Anybody welcome to try out for our SILVER DIVISION team. Saanich Career Education presents "Parents as Informed Partners" at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney on Thursday, Oct. 4th at 7:00 pm. Learn about various specialty programs, "dual credit", post secondary and trades training while still in high school, hear from a parent & student panel, partner post secondary institutions, and much more! Visit the Career Centre for more information on this great career path information meeting!

PAC MEETING- Oct 2nd - The first PAC meeting of the year is happening on Tuesday, Oct 2nd at 7pm in the Learning Commons. All Parents/guardians are welcome to attend!
