GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A huge congratulations to our cross country runners who competed at the BC Championships this weekend in Nanaimo.  The races were very challenging in the pouring rain, mud and wind!!  Jonah Brost was 17th.  For junior boys Jacob Webster was 75th and Patrick Farkas 86th in a huge and competitive field of  nearly 300 runners per race!  Well done Stingers!! 

Also, Best of Luck to the Jr Girls Volleyball team who start playing this afternoon in the City Playoffs! Go Stingers!

CLUBS

Model UN meeting today at lunch in rm 70.

ATHLETICS

All grade 11 and 12 girls interested in playing on the Senior Girls Basketball Team this year, please come to a meeting on Tuesday in the PE classroom at the beginning of lunch.

CAREER CENTRE

CAMOSUN INNOVATES DESIGN CHALLENGE is this Wednesday. You will explore the Camosun Innovates space, do a hands-on design challenge, tour the Interurban campus, learn about dual credit, and become more familiar with the many courses and programs Camosun College has to offer. Be sure to hand in your forms to Mr. Hart ASAP if you want to attend.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

Have You Considered a Career in AVIATION and DESIGN?  School District #61 is hosting a semester long Aviation and Design Program @ Mt. Doug Secondary February - June 2019.   Partnering With Viking Air, Victoria Flying Club, Pacific Sky, VIH Aviation Group & Camosun College.  To register talk with Mr. Rhodes in the Career Centre. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 15, 2018.

Gulf Island Fire/Rescue Youth Camp? -  March 18-23, 2019
Applications for the March 2019 Fire/Rescue Camp are now being accepted. If you have ever wondered what it's like to run into a building that everyone else is running out of, dreamed of using an extrication tool to cut up a car and access a victim, imagined handling a hose so powerful that it takes two people to hold it, or thought you could dangle off a rope 50 feet in the air.... then consider applying for the Gulf Island Fire/Rescue Camp! This 51/2 day camp takes place during Spring Break and qualifies you to 100 Work Experience hours (4 school credits), as well as a certificate of completion.

POST SECONDARY INSTITUTES OF BC & CAREER COACHING SEMINAR -  NOV 15TH

Representatives from Post Secondary Institutes of British Columbia will be at Stelly's on Thursday, November 15th from 6:00- 8:00pm to provide information about their programs, admissions and answer any questions you may have! Also, we are hosting a "PARENTS AS CAREER COACHES" Seminar at 7pm.  Capilano University Instructor Marion Haythorne's presents this free seminar to help parents guide their children to make sound educational and career choices
