GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Remembrance Day Assemblies
This FRIDAY, Stelly's will dedicate blocks 2 and 3 for our Remembrance Day assemblies, to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who continue to serve, in order to preserve our Canadian values and freedoms.  This year is an especially notable year, as this is 100th anniversary of the World War 1 armistice.  Poppies will be available, please remember to bring a donation for the Legion Poppy Fund and wear your poppy proudly.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

ATHLETICS

SR GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tryouts are starting on Tuesday at 5pm and next Thursday at 3pm. See Ms. Montgomery if you can not make it!

CAREER CENTRE

Fire/Rescue Camp: Deadline To Apply is TODAY
Do you ever wonder what it’s like to run into a building that everyone else is running out of? Dream of using an extrication tool to cut up a car and extricate a victim? Think you could dangle off the end of a rope 50 feet in the air? Want to make a difference? If you have answered yes to any of the questions, you are a great candidate for the Southern Gulf Islands Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp taking place during one week of Spring Break 2019.  See Mr Rhodes in the Career Centre.

Soldier For A Day- Work/Study Program
The BC Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a Day program on SATURDAY, November 17th.  This program is an introduction to the role of the BC Army Reserve both here in your home community, across Canada and even around the world. It’s also worth 6 1/2 hours of work experience. Don’t wait too long to sign up, as spaces are filling up fast!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Volunteer hours can count toward Grad Transition requirements and/or are a necessary requirement for some university program admissions. The Career Centre has information about various volunteer opportunities for students, including the following:

All International Students going on the Vancouver Day Trip, please meet in Room 114 at Lunch on Thursday for a brief meeting.

PARENTS:

POST SECONDARY INSTITUTES OF BC & CAREER COACHING SEMINAR - NOV 15TH

Representatives from the POST SECONDARY INSTITUTES OF BC will be at Stelly's on Thursday, November 15th starting at 6:00 through to  8:00pm to provide information about their programs, admissions and answer any questions you may have! There are 2 presentation sessions in various classrooms followed by a min fair. Also, we are hosting a "PARENTS AS CAREER COACHES" Seminar at 6:30pm to help parents guide their children to make sound educational and career choices.

PENINSULA YOUTH CLINIC
The Peninsula Youth Clinic in  Sidney is open today and every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
