GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

GINGER BREAD PEOPLE DECORATING CONTEST: Hey everybody! Join us in the Learning Commons on Monday, December 17th, at lunch, for a Ginger Bread People Decorating Contest. There is a one dollar entry fee and a Christmas prize for the winner! See you there!

CANDY GRAMS:  To celebrate the holiday spirit, Candy Grams are on sale at lunch in the main foyer today and Monday. You can buy a candy gram with a candy cane for $0.50 or a chocolate for $1.00. Buy these for your friends and classmates to spread some holiday cheer!

STELLYS ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE: Stingers... Did you bring in your food for the hamper drive? Every classroom has a list of items to bring to fill a hamper. Today is the last chance to donate. Please Check the list and help fill the hamper to help families in our community.

NUMERACY EXAM SIGN UP: Numeracy Exam sign up sheets for January will be posted outside the main office today at lunch. At this time we are asking that only Grade 12's  sign up as this exam is needed for graduation. More information is available on the Stelly’s website.

DODGEBALL INTRAMURALS: Sign up is now open for Dodgeball Intramurals starting in January. Team Sign up sheets are posted outside the PE office and on the website. See Mr. Braun if you have any questions.

PHOTOS, STUDENT ID’S & BUS CARDS: There are still many school photos, student I.D. cards, and bus passes in the office.  Please come by to pick them up.

IMMUNIZATION FORMS: A reminder to all grade 9 students to return your immunization forms to the main office ASAP.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

Do you know about the latest opportunities for jobs, training, post-secondary info and much, much more? Sign up for the forums on the Saanich Career Education website to get the latest news.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

High Tech U
Applications for UVic's High Tech U Program are available from the Career Centre. HighTech U is an initiative of the UVic Computer Science Dept. This 3-step program includes a an 8-week paid summer internship working in the the high-tech industry. Once completed, graduates of the internship will be eligible for a post-secondary award towards their first-year tuition at UVic.  Application submissions are due December 31st.  Visit the Career Centre or see Mr. Beeston for more information.

District #63 Hairdressing Program
Any students interested in the dual credit Cosmo/Hairdressing Program, offered by SD#63 in partnership with Vancouver Island University, please see Mr. Rhodes  in the Career Centre to sign up for the Feb. 2019 start!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Lattitude Global Volunteering offers amazing GAP Year volunteer opportunities all around the world, lasting from 3 to 12 months!  Young adults from 17-25 years of age volunteer and learn through cultural immersion.  Volunteer as a teaching assistant, medical assistant, teacher, outdoor educator and more. GRAD 2019

GRAD YEARBOOK WRITE-UP AND SLIDE SHOW PHOTOS: A list has been posted on the Grad Board of those Grads that have sucessfully sumbitted their yearbook write-up  and slide show photo's. If your name is not on the list see Mr Hart ASAP.

GRAD PHOTO PROOFS: Grad Photo Proofs are available for pick up from the main office

GRAD’s don’t forget to grab a Thrifty Smile card or a Fairway card from the office to raise funds for the Dry Grad.  Get your parents to load the card when they shop, and the stores will make a donation to Dry Grad 2019.

INTERNATIONAL

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL:  For all International Students  planning any Day trip travel,  applications are due today!   Please hand them in to the International Office as soon as possible.
