GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Best of Luck to the Sr boys basketball team who play their last home game tonight at 7:30pm. Also, a huge congratulations to Ethan Lee & Jonah Talbot who are ranked #1 and #2 respectively in the South Island Triple A league scoring for Basketball. Way to go on this amazing feat Guys! 

Interested in writing a University of Waterloo Math contest this spring?  The next round of contests will be written later this month,  See Mrs Hilton in rm 169 before Friday if you are interested.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

YEARBOOKS: Please check the Yearbook list in the office to ensure you have pre-purchased your Yearbook. Cost is $50 now and will increase after spring Break! ONLY A few extra yearbooks will be ordered so prepay now to ensure you get one!

BOYS RUGBY:  oy's Rugby practice is today after school. See Mr Collins if you can't make it!

CLUBS

Students! Are you interested in Artificial Intelligence and robots?  Come to the MPR room next week on Wednesday February 13 at lunch to participate in a demonstration with a robot called Loom.

CAREER CENTRE

UVic Health Information Science Open House – Feb. 7
Students interested in learning more about
the expanding field of information technology in healthcare are invited to attend the UVic School of Health Information Science Spring Open House, on THURSDAY, Feb 7th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm.  Located in room 110 in the Hickman Building. Pizza and refreshments will be served.

Reminder that Field trip consent forms for the Women in Trades and Technology Day on Feb 20 at Camosun are due by next Thursday, February 14th for any girls wanting to participate. This is a great chance to explore and participate in activities in trades like Carpentry, Electrical, Automotive, Sheet Metal Fabrication, plus four technology areas including Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Butchart Gardens Employment Opportunities & Job Fair - Feb. 13th from 6-8 pm
Seasonal Employment – Food - Visitor - Custodial Services - Gift Store – Gardening. Apply online at https://www.butchartgardens.com/employment/   Seasonal positions provide 25-40 hours of work per week, $15.45 hour. Shifts will vary and weekend and evening work is required.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (YEP) JOB FAIR - Friday, Feb 15 at Shoal Centre (10030 Resthaven Drive) 10 - 12 pm.  This is a great opportunity to meet employers interested in hiring students for summer or part time jobs. Come and learn about the employment opportunities in the area and how your skills and interest can benefit. Employers will have applications on hand and will be prepared to interview students at their tables, so dress for success, bring your resume!

GRAD 2019

Grads ... starting today at lunch you can buy your favourite Grad a “Carnation gram” for Valentine’s Day! Flowers available for sale at lunch in the main foyer today through to next Wednesday. Each carnation is $2  and includes a special note, to be delivered on Valentine’s Day.

MAGIC WAND: The Magic Wand is a non-profit organization that offers an Eco-friendly and inexpensive alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. The Magic Wand is for ANY grad to borrow a dress, suit or tux, rather than buy (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. To book an appointment to view the selection of available clothes, phone 250-658-0246.

GRAD TRANSITIONS: Grad Transition paperwork deadline is March 8th ! All required paperwork is available in the Career Centre or online thru the Stelly’s website..

INTERNATIONAL

International Student Ski Trip is on March 7 & 8. Sign up with Diane in the International Office before next Thursday, Feb 14!

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

PARENT VOLUNTEER NEEDED   - The Stelly’s Breakfast Program is still in need a  parent volunteer for Wednesday mornings from 7:30 am to 9am. The Stellys breakfast program is open to all students and is a simple self-serve bagel breakfast. Please consider helping if you can!

PENINSULA YOUTH CLINIC
The Peninsula Youth Clinic in  Sidney is open today and every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
