GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
CAMOSUN INFO NIGHT 2019 is happening tonight from 5:30 – 8pm at the Lansdowne campus. This is your chance to see what Camosun has to offer you. Talk to instructors and program experts about the programs you are interested in.
COFFEE CONCERT: Auditions start next week for Stellys’ next coffee concert. Have you signed up yet? Auditions in the dining room will be hosted from March 5th to 7th at lunchtime. Time slots are available on the band room door. We hope to see you there!
FRANCE SPRING BREAK 2020: Would you be interested in travelling with friends to Holland, Belgium, and France to visit famous battlefields and memorials from World War 1 and 2? Would you like to tour a Belgian chocolate factory, see the Normandy countryside, and shop in Paris? All this and much more will be offered on our Spring Break 2020 trip. See Mrs Wallace in room 108 this week for more information. There's a $150 discount for sign up before April and it's open for grades 9 to 12.
HOMEWORK HELP: Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!
YEARBOOKS: Please check the Yearbook list in the office to ensure you have pre-purchased your Yearbook. Cost is $50 now and will increase after spring Break! ONLY A few extra yearbooks will be ordered so prepay now to ensure you get one!
ATHLETICS
Reminder to all basketball players please return their uniforms ASAP to Mr. Braun in the PE office. If you don’t return your uniform by the end of the week you will be billed!

Spring Sailing is starting soon! Beginner and experienced sailors are welcome! Sailing runs April 6th - June 8th. If you are interested please stop by the office and pick up an application form!

TRAINING & EDUCATION:
Youth Night at GTHS - Presentation about Youths Rights ...Youth are some of the most vulnerable employees in the workplace mostly due to the lack of information around rights as an employee. Young people are also not often aware of the supports & advocacy that is available to them. When: Monday, March 4th 6-8PM at GT Hiring Solutions – 201-1483 Douglas Street. Hosted by Youth Employment Outreach Coordinator & The Retail Action Network. Pizza will be provided along with a presentation by the representatives from the Retail Action Network No registration required, just show up!
First Aid Training – April 6 from 8:30-4:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
Food Safe Training – April 8
Food Safe Level 1 training: Monday, April 8, 2019, from 8:30 - 4:30 pm, at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated. Class Afloat 2019-2020 - This programme offers rigorous and internationally acclaimed academic programmes for grade 11, 12, University and GAP year students. Class Afloat offers both study and travel opportunities, onboard their majestic tall ship, and have just released their2019-2020 Voyage details. Volunteers needed for a Spring Fair Fundraiser @Heritage Acres - Saturday May 18th 8:30-2:30
Volunteers are needed for games, bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle course, inflatable horse race game, face painting, cotton candy machine and concession. There is also an opportunity to dress up as a PRINCESS or SUPERHERO character for 4 hour shifts? YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills, explore another part of Canada, and gain valuable work experience through a work placement while on the exchange. The program runs for 6 weeks (early July to mid August), you must be 16 or 17 years of age during the summer program.
