GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Winners of the 3 on 3 basketball challenge: Kyle, Jean & Quinn will be taking on the teachers at lunch  in the large gym! Come one, Come all and cheer on your favourite Team!

Cakes for Apes Bake Sale is happening a t lunch in the main foyer. Come out and support the International Animal Rescue organization.

Did you know that School District #63 has its own Hairstylist training program?    Want a free haircut, style or Up-do? Give them a call and make an appointment (250-652-5381). Check out the posters around the school! Studio 63 is at the Saanichton ILC on Mt Newton X road.

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

UVic Medical Program Info - May 7
Are you interested in becoming a doctor? Do you know you can earn your MD at UVic? The Island Medical Program delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria and Island Health. Learn more about the MD admissions process at the upcoming high school information session on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 6:30-8:00 pm, in the UVic Medical Sciences Building, room 105.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

TALE - Tourism and Leadership Exploration

D61 and West Coast Adventure College have partnered together to offer an amazing 8-week summer program for students interested in exploring the Adventure Tourism Industry. Apply with your Career Counsellor - Applications are due April 26th  For more information see the poster on the Career Centre Info Board. The program runs from in July 2nd – August 30th, 2019.  Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm with the following schedule: July: Local Victoria Parks & Trails, Uplands Campus ; August: Unpaid Work Experience placements with Local Companies.  If you are interested in applying for the TALE program or finding out more about the program come to the Career Centre

Camp Ignite – Summer 2019
Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18.  It is a   4-day camp that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. This year's camp will run from August 8-11, 2019.  Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Application deadline is June 1. Please visit the Career Centre for application packages.

Saanich Summer Internship Program - Saanich Parks & Recreation: Summer Internship Program is designed to support youth ages 16-18 years to gain valuable work experience. Mentored part-time and full-time placements are available in summer camps and community settings throughout Saanich. Interns receive up to $500 for completing the program!  Application deadline is May 15.  Apply by sending an e-mail to Alana.Goddard@saanich.ca  explaining why you want to be a summer intern or phone 250-475-7624 for more information.

GRAD 2019

Grad Packages are due tomorrow - April 24th. Please drop off to Ms. Batham, in the Main office

Grads ....remember Raffle tickets are due today! Please turn them into the office today or tomorrow morning  to the dry grad rep. outside the office. All tickets must be returned whether they are sold or not!

Grad Bottle drive is happening on Saturday at Stelly's from 9 -12pm. Bring in your recylable containers and support Stellty's Grad 2019.

SCRAP METAL DRIVE FUNDRAISER- is happening this weekend starting on Friday at 4pm through to Sunday at 2pm. Please drop off your unwanted scrap metal and help support the Dry grad of 2019.
