Stelly’s! Today is “Light’s Out at Lunch for Earth Day”! Stelly’s Social Leadership Class kindly asks you to turn off as many lights possible in the school during the lunch hour.

Did you know that School District #63 has its own Hairstylist training program?  Want a free haircut, style or Up-do? Give them a call and make an appointment (250-652-5381).. Check out the posters around the school! Studio 63 is at the Saanichton ILC on Mt Newton X road.

THE HIVE, STELLY’S SCHOOL STORE is open today and every Wednesday at lunch. Come grab an ice cream sandwich!

HOMEWORK HELP:  Need any help with your homework? Extra Help is available every morning from 7:15am in the Learning Commons or after school Monday/Tuesday and Thursday until 4pm! Check it out!

UVic Medical Program Info - May 7
Are you interested in becoming a doctor? Do you know you can earn your MD at UVic? The Island Medical Program delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria and Island Health. Learn more about the MD admissions process at the upcoming high school information session on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 6:30-8:00 pm, in the UVic Medical Sciences Building, room 105.

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

SD61 and Pacific Design Academy have partnered together to offer and amazing 8-week summer program for students interested in Interior Design - Graphic Design - Fashion Design. These courses are structured as follows: Monday-Friday 9:00 am–3:00 pm. July 2nd-30th, classroom-based instruction; July 31st-August 30th unpaid work experience placement. If you are interested in applying for the Pacific Design Academy program or finding out more about the program visit your Career Centre. Applications are due April 26th.TALE - Tourism and Leadership Exploration

SD61 and West Coast Adventure College have partnered together to offer an amazing 8-week summer program for students interested in exploring the Adventure Tourism Industry. Apply with your Career Counsellor - Applications are due April 26th  For more information see the poster on the Career Centre Info Board. The program runs from in July 2nd – August 30th, 2019.  Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm with the following schedule: July: Local Victoria Parks & Trails, Uplands Campus ; August: Unpaid Work Experience placements with Local Companies.  If you are interested in applying for the TALE program or finding out more about the program come to the Career Centre

Saanich Summer Internship Program - Saanich Parks & Recreation: Summer Internship Program is designed to support youth ages 16-18 years to gain valuable work experience. Mentored part-time and full-time placements are available in summer camps and community settings throughout Saanich. Interns receive up to $500 for completing the program!  Application deadline is May 15.  Apply by sending an e-mail to Alana.Goddard@saanich.ca  explaining why you want to be a summer intern or phone 250-475-7624 for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are need for the Salish Sea Lantern Festival which is held in mid August and there are several lantern-making workshops leading up to this event.

  • assist with lantern making on August 1, 6, 8, 13 and/or 15, all days between from 2-5pm (location TBD)

  • assist with 2 lantern making workshops at the SENCOTEN student summer immersion program in July

  • assist with distribution of Lantern Festival posters in August

Grad Packages, Valedictorian/MC and Grad Ceremony Musical Performance applications are due today... Please drop off to Ms. Batham, in the Main office.

Grads ....Raffle tickets are now past due! Please turn them into the office today! All tickets must be returned whether they are sold or not!

Grad Bottle drive is happening on Saturday at Stelly's from 9 -12pm. Bring in your recylable containers and support Stellty's Grad 2019.

SCRAP METAL DRIVE FUNDRAISER- Is happening this weekend starting on Friday at 4pm through to Sunday at 2pm. Please drop off your unwanted scrap metal and help support the Dry grad of 2019.
