GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

2019-2020 School Bus Registration is open for students wishing to take the District School Bus next year.  Please go to the School District Website under transportation and register your student. Note: Students must be registered by July 15th, 2018 to ensure a seat on the bus.

YEARBOOKS: If students did not receive their yearbooks on Wednesday, Please see Mr. Hart in the computer lab!

TIMETABLES:  If students missed TA on Wednesday, Next Years timetables are available for pick up in the main office.

Report Card pickup is THURSDAY June 27 from 8:30 - 9:15 in TA classroom.  Additional times to pick up Report cards will Friday, June 28th through Friday,July 5th 8am -3pm only. Report Cards will not be mailed home. Parents are welcome to pick up report cards.

TEXTBOOKS/LIBRARY BOOKS: Please return ALL textbooks and Library resources by Tuesday, June 25th. Feel free to put them on any carts you see around the school or bring them to the Learning commons.

Japan 2020 Spring Break Trip :Have you ever thought about travelling to Japan?  Stelly's Secondary School is organizing an educational and cultural trip to Japan during Spring Break of 2020. We are going to Tokyo, Hakone, Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima. You will have the unique experience of being able to immerse yourself in both old and new traditions that co-exist within the Japanese culture!! Come to the meeting on Monday June 24th at 6 pm or see Mrs. Fitzgerald for more information.

LOCKER CLEAN OUT: Be sure you locker is completely cleaned out by Friday, June 21st. Locks and contents will be removed on Wednesday, June 26th. All unclaimed items will be donated on July 2nd to a local charity.
LOST & FOUND TABLE: A lost & found table is in the hallway, near the office.  Lots of t-shirts, hoodies,  water bottles, etc. All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

CAREER CENTRE

WORK EXPERIENCE 12A &12B - If you have a job or are volunteering this summer be sure to sign up for Work Experience and receive extra credits, you must register by June 25th to receive credit for your hours!! See the Career Center for more details!

Trades Exploration -TEx Program) Have you thought about a career in the trades?  Not sure if it will be right for you? Get samples of Welding, Carpentry, Electrical and Plumbing through a Semester 2 TEx Program!  Earn work experience credits and learn about the steps to apprenticeship and Red Seal Certification. AUTOTECH PROGRAM - Do you love cars? Enjoy working with your hands? Need credits for graduation? How would you like to be a Camosun student before you graduate? TEAC 105 - Explorations in Technology - Do you want to explore Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science?  TEAC 105 explores these four technologies through hands-on activities and project-based learning. This dual-credit course is offered in partnership with Camosun College and runs on Friday afternoons at Camosun Interurban Campus from 3- 6 pm, from September to February. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Step Up Youth Program - Island Health’s Volunteer Program for Youth. Volunteer opportunities at both Victoria General Hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital. All Youth in Grades 9-12 (Minimum age is 14). Application due: June 30th (accepted on a first come first serve basis) Interviews: July, Training: August. Program runs from September to 2nd Sunday in April. See the Career Centre Info Board for more information and program contacts.

EMPLOYMENT:

Mount Doug Golf Course (4225 Blenkinsop Rd.) is looking to hiring mature responsible students to join our outdoor grounds team this summer and possible future summers for grounds keeping. This is a great opportunity to spend the summer outdoors doing mostly light duty tasks like raking, weeding, whipping edges, and driving a golf gator around the course. This is a part-time seasonal position; hours should be 20-30 hours per week. If interested, please take your resume in person to the check-in counter to set up an interview.

GRAD 2019

BOTTLE DRIVE FOR GRAD 2020: This weekend on Saturday, June 22 from 9am to 12pm is the first Bottle Drive for  After Grad 2020. The after grad 2020 parents are looking for a few volunteers to help out with the monthly bottle drive fundraiser for 2020 after grad.  This ongoing fundraiser takes place on the 4th Saturday of each month from 9:00-12:00 at Stelly’s. The Bottle Drive schedule coinsides with the Community Recycling and soft plastics drop-off at Stelly’s each month.  The Bottle Drive summer dates are as follows: June 22, 2019, July 27, 2019, August 24, 2019; and will continue until May 2020.

Peninsula Youth Clinic – OPEN ALL SUMMER
For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand. Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.
