CPF (Canadian Parents for French) is a not-for-profit, parent-driven organization that provides resources and support to public school students and families who are part of French second language learning.
Each year, chapters across Canada create and promote French-second-language learning opportunities outside the classroom for students of all ages. The Saanich Chapter organizes activities that offer our youth a chance to use their French in “real life”, such as Summer Camps; writing competitions; bilingual entertainment events and cultural activities; as well as the Concours d’art oratoire (Canada’s largest French public speaking contest). Additionally, CPF provides research and advocacy for French programming on the district, provincial, and national levels.
All CPF members pay an annual membership fee ($25), and 80% of this is returned directly to our local Chapter to support the work and activities we carry out on behalf of French second language learning in our community.
As the fall return to school approaches, so does the CPF annual membership drive! As many of you know, every fall CPF hosts an active push to recruit new parents and volunteers, fundraise, and expand our network. Chapters do amazing work to promote the drive, and we hope together to make this year’s event a grand success! The importance of the long-term, sustained impact of our membership base cannot be understated in our work to promote and create French-second language opportunities throughout the region, as well as Canada-wide.
Here’s what you need to know:
· The drive launches September 1st, and from then until October 31st, chapters will get 90% of rebates back.
· CPF will be holding a contest again this year with 100% of rebates going back to the chapter with the most percentage of membership growth during the period.
