Sr. Musical Theatre class presents "SHREK the MUSICAL" starting Feb 4th through Feb 8th,2020.  Tickets are available for sale at lunch in the main foyer or at the office. Buy your tickets soon ... as they are selling fast!

Italy Spring Break 2021 - Visit Italy for 11 days during your Spring Break of 2021! We will arrive in Milan and the visit Venice, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Pompeii and Capri. This tour is organized by EF Tours and hosted by Ms Liberatore from Stelly's. Please contact Ms Liberatore for more information. Forensic Archaeology at UVic. Saturday, March 28  If yo are interested ... students must sign up from a link on the Learning Commons Web page. UVic School of Health Information Science Open House Thursday February 13th from 4:30pm - 6pm - We invite you to learn more about this exciting field by talking with our faculty and students. and learning about the rapidly expanding field of information technology in health care! RCMP Training in Saskatchewan – 5 days in Spring Break - The RCMP is inviting 32 grade 12 students from across Canada to the Youth Engagement Week held at the Police Training Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. The program will take place from March 23 to 27. Costs for travel, accommodations and meals will be covered by the RCMP. This is a great opportunity for students, who are interested in a career in law enforcement, to experience a week of what training in the RCMP looks like! Applications are available in the Career Centre or can be printed off from the Saanich Career Education website: https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

Are you interested in Marine Biology as a Career or a General Science Career?  Join us for a field trip to the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre on Friday, February 28th to Monday, March 2, 2020.  (Students must be 16-18 and in grade 10-12). WOMEN IN TRADES & TECHNOLOGY EXPLORATION DAY - Camosun College- Feb 26th   Bus transportation and lunch will be provided! This is a chance to check out well paying careers in the following:  Trades - Electricians - Automotive Service Technicians - Sheet Metal/Metal Fabricators - Carpenters, Technology- Civil Engineering - Computer Science - Electronics Engineering - Mechanical Engineering.  More information will be out soon. YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills, explore another part of Canada, and gain valuable work experience through a work placement while on the exchange. The program runs for 6 weeks (early July to mid August), you must be 16 or 17 years of age during the summer program. Camosun's TEAC 105 (Explorations in Technology) registration is now open for the Feb-May 2020 course!  This dual-credit course, runs on Fridays from 3-6 pm, and provides current high school students with an introduction to careers in 4 technology areas:   Computer Science, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. See the Counselling Office for application forms.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Saanich Peninsula Hospital is looking for Volunteers in their Extended Care Unit Meal Time Host weekend program! - This is a great opportunity for youth interested in pursuing a career in health care and who are passionate about supporting our local elder populations. See the Poster on the Career Centre Info Board.  Youth must complete an Application Form - First Contact Screening Letter - Two reference forms and submit it to VolunteerHere@viha.ca no later than January 20th.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help at the 2020 Tsukino-Con UVic Anime Convention - February 21-23, 2020 at UVIC - See the Poster on the Career Centre Info Board. All volunteers must complete and submit the volunteer form no later than February 14th, 2020. Volunteers will be required to attend the February orientations. GRAD 2020

BOTTLE DRIVE FOR GRAD 2020: The next Grad bottle drive is this coming Saturday, January 25th from 9:00am-12:00pm to raise money for the After Grad 2020. The Bottle Drive schedule co-insides with the Community Recycling and soft plastics drop-off at Stelly’s each month.

INTERNATIONAL

SISP Mt. Washington Ski Trip -March 5 & 6 -Cost $250.00 -Package includes Bus Transportation, Accommodation, Snow Tubing, Lift & Ski/board Rental, Ski/Board Lessons. Forms are available in the International Office. Last day to Sign-up is Feb. 12.

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

PARENTS AS EDUCATORS & CAREER COACHES -  Jan 30   Are you the parent of a high school student? Would you like to help them with their post-secondary choices? This is an interactive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need.  Educational Planner is presenting "Parents as Education and Career Coaches" on THURSDAY January 30th at Stelly's Secondary School, at 6:30 pm.
