GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

AN EVENING OF PERFORMING ARTS” is happening this Friday evening at 7pm at Stelly’s. Tickets are only $5.00 each. Tickets available at the office or the door. Performances by the beginner/intermediate dance class, Musical Theatre, Choir and Vocal Jazz classes. Everyone Welcome!

Semester 2 Timetables – Friday TA - End of Block 3 - There will be a very important TA on Friday at the end of Block 3 for students to pick up their semester 2 timetables. It is important to be there, as there have been changes in teachers and classrooms to many classes.

Stelly’s Sr. Musical Theatre class presents "SHREK the MUSICAL" starting Feb 4th through Feb 8th,2020.  Tickets are available for sale at lunch in the main foyer or at the office. Buy your tickets soon ... as they are selling fast!

ATHLETICS

CENTRAL SAANICH LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL REGISTRATION starts tonight from 6 to 8pm at the Central Saanich Little League Clubhouse in Centennial Park. Next Registration date is, Sat Jan 25th, Jan 26th, Feb 1st & Feb 2 from 1-4pm at the Central Saanich Little League Clubhouse in Centennial Park.

Explorations in Technology SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE: Registration is ongoing for TEAC 105 (Engineering Sampler-Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Computer), taking place at Camosun through the South Island Partnership. TOUR OF INDUSTRY FOR YOUTH” - Explore a local industry via guided tour. This is an opportunity for students to meet local  businesses and hear about positions they might not have thought of as careers. Wages are well beyond minimum, & the companies have lots to offer. See the poster on the Career Centre Info Board for dates / times. As this is an event held outside the classroom, students will be responsible for making their own arrangements to miss a day of classes and for transportation to the venue. BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, would like to invite Grade 10-12
students to attend Mini Med School in Victoria, Thursday, April 2, 2020. At Mini Med School Victoria, students will learn about the latest in biomedical and clinical research through lectures with live demonstrations and hands-on experience that inspire and motivate further learning. As Mini Med School is a special event held outside the classroom, students will be responsible for making their own arrangements to miss a day of classes and for transportation to the venue. Admission is FREE. Student registration will be available online on Monday, February 10
at 4 p.m. at www.minimedschoolbc.ca. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited, so we encourage students to register as soon as registration opens.

UVic School of Health Information Science Open House Thursday February 13th from 4:30pm - 6pm - We invite you to learn more about this exciting field by talking with our faculty and students. and learning about the rapidly expanding field of information technology in healthcare! RCMP Training in Saskatchewan – 5 days in Spring Break - The RCMP is inviting 32 grade 12 students from across Canada to the Youth Engagement Week held at the Police Training Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. The program will take place from March 23 to 27. Costs for travel, accommodations and meals will be covered by the RCMP. This is a great opportunity for students, who are interested in a career in law enforcement, to experience a week of what training in the RCMP looks like! YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is a national program offering opportunities for youth to improve their second official language skills, explore another part of Canada, and gain valuable work experience through a work placement while on the exchange. The program runs for 6 weeks (early July to mid August), you must be 16 or 17 years of age during the summer program. Magic Wand Project - Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. BOTTLE DRIVE FOR GRAD 2020: The next Grad bottle drive is this Saturday, January 25th from 9:00am-12:00pm to raise money for the After Grad 2020. The Bottle Drive schedule co-insides with the Community Recycling and soft plastics drop-off at Stelly’s each month.

PARENTS AS EDUCATORS & CAREER COACHES -  Jan 30   Are you the parent of a high school student? Would you like to help them with their post-secondary choices? This is an interactive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need.  Educational Planner is presenting "Parents as Education and Career Coaches" on THURSDAY January 30th at Stelly's Secondary School, at 6:30 pm. The Peninsula Youth Clinic in  Sidney is open today and every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
