GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today the CAFETERIA has the choice of Ham, Cheese, Tomato and Arugula Panini, Chicken Caesar salad, Crunchy Chicken Oriental Wrap, Chicken Cordon Blue with asparagus & Rosemary smashed potatoes, Meat Ravioli with a garlic cream sauce or a beef or veggie enchilada! Come on down and check it out!

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS LOOKING TO MAKE TIMETABLE CHANGES for Quarter 2, please see a counsellor as soon as possible.  The deadline for Q2 course changes is Nov 18th!

Hey Stingers! Halloween is coming up and we want to see you in a costume tomorrow! There will be a photo booth at the front of the school so you can be entered in the Stelly's Costume Contest. There will be prizes for the top 3 student costumes and top teacher costume. Hope to see you there!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN IMPROVING YOUR PROBLEM SOLVING, CRITICAL THINKING AND MATH ABILITITIES?  Writing a University of Waterloo Math Contest is a great way to develop these valuable skills. Contests are open to all gr 9-12 students and are written throughout the year.  Full information is available on the board outside room 169.  You MUST see Mrs. Hilton by today to register for the November contests.  Next opportunity is in February. 

Do you want a chance to win a thousand dollars?  Enter the Remembrance Day literary and poster contest.  The deadline is November 15.  For more details, please see your English teacher or Ms. Pacheco McKinnon in the Learning Commons.

MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15am in room 156.

CAREER CENTRE

DREAM IT BE IT Career Support for Girls. Free Event!  Workshops & Exhibits for those age 15-24 who self-identify as female. Take Charge of Your Future - Believe in Yourself - Find Your Way Forward  On Thursday, November 5, 2020  10:00 am – 2:30 pm - Coming to Stelly's!  See the Poster on the Career Centre Info Board for more information and all the workshops.  Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

TRADES EXPLORATION (TEx Program) - Want to learn more about what it is like to work as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, or welder?  There are limited seats available for next year’s Quarter 3 Trades Exploration Program, provided in partnership with Camosun College. Learn about each trade, fast track your future and earn up to 8 credits toward grad for completing 2 courses!  Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

SAANICH SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP & CARPENTRY PROGRAM is a full 2nd semester immersion program where students learn the basics of constructing a wood frame structure from the bare ground to the rooftop. This program blends both theoretical knowledge and practical application of skills and concepts related to the trade. Successful students transition directly to Camosun College for further training as Level One Carpentry Apprentices. Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM   The recruitment campaign for the 2021-2022 academic year for the House of Commons Page Program is on now through November 8, 2020. Join the House of Commons Page Program and work at the heart of Canada’s democracy with students from across the country.  You must: be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, be bilingual,  be enrolled in first-year studies at one of the four universities in the National Capital Region, & have a school average of 80%.  Check out the House of Commons Page Program and apply online http://www.ourcommons.ca/About/PageProgram/Index-e.html   Closing date is November 8, 2020

GRAD POINSETTIA ORDERS: Grads …  Do you want to decrease your Grad activity fees this year? Grab a Grad Poinsettia Order form from the Grad board in the main foyer. Forms are due back on Nov 15th.

GRAD PORTRAITS: November 2nd - 13th    Grads, it is time to book your grad photos. Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Stelly's for a limited time: Monday, November 2nd through November 13th, 2020. To book your appointment, please go to the Lifetouch Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca    Enter your province (BC), your city (Saanichton) and your school (Stelly's) to log in and book your appointment. Don't put this off until later, or all of the appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time. Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).

PENNINSULA YOUTH CLINIC is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video.
