GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Today the CAFETERIA has the choice of a Chicken, Jack Cheese, roasted garlic & pepper flatbread, California Turkey Wrap, Chicken Almond & Pear Salad, Mac & Cheese, Asian Meatballs with Veggies on Rice or Cauliflower & Leek soup! Come on down and check it out! 

BREAKFAST CLUB is happening Tuesday and Wednesday! Bagels and juice will be $.25. It's a great, cheap and easy way to start your day!  Come join the fun!

Just a reminder .... MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156 and AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELP is every Monday through Thursday in the Learning Commons until 4pm.

SD63: LIST OF VIRTUAL POST SECONDARY INFO & EVENTS - There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions.  The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. For the most current details about many virtual events being provided by universities and other post-secondary schools, make sure to visit the Saanich School District Career Education website, at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/.  This site is updated continually.

FAST FORWARD in STEM - This STEM webinar series introduces women in post-secondary in career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  Featuring inspiring speakers, the free webinars are open to students, educators, and parents. UVIC Virtual Parents Night - Thursday, January 14, 2021, 6:00PM  Parent Nights will provide parents & guardians  with the opportunity to learn more about UVic. Attendees will enjoy a presentation by the amazing Dr. Lisa Surridge, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, with some helpful tips on being successful in post-secondary studies. The focus of the talk is helping parents (and students) navigate the transition from high school to university.  Events are scheduled in Pacific Time. Registration closes two hours before an event. DISTRICT CAREER PROGRAMS & DUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES - Virtual Information Night – THURSDAY January 28 @ 7pm.  Parents are invited to join a virtual meeting to learn more about opportunities available to students in grades 10-12 in the Saanich School District. Ypu will find out about:  Skills Training Apprenticeship Carpentry (STAC), Work Experience 12A & 12B (WEx), Trade Awareness Skills & Knowledge (TASK), Trade Exploration (TEX), Marine Service Technician, VIU Hairstylist Program, Dual Credit Courses offered through Camosun College, Technical Trades Training and Apprenticeships.  For more information and to register for this event, please see this attached link:  Link for Careers Night   Questions can be directed to Heidi Hackman in Stelly's Career Centre.

SAANICH SKILLS TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP & CARPENTRY PROGRAM is a full 2nd semester immersion program where students learn the basics of constructing a wood frame structure from the bare ground to the rooftop. This program blends both theoretical knowledge and practical application of skills and concepts related to the trade. Successful students transition directly to Camosun College for further training as Level One Carpentry Apprentices. Please see Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

GRAD 2021

The next Parent Dry Grad Committee Bottle Drive will happen on January 9th from 10am-2pm at Stelly's School.  We need volunteers!  Parents and Grads, please try to show up if at least for an hour - this bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end event being planned out by all the parents.  We hope everyone will be saving their empty returnables over the holidays to drop-off on January 9th as well!  You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account. Thank You for your continued support!!

GRAD PORTRAIT RETAKES - January 20th - 22nd, 2021  - If you missed out on getting your grad portraits taken or if you were unhappy with your portraits, the Lifetouch portable studio will be returning to Stelly's for a few days on January 20th thru 22nd, 2021. You are now able to book an appointment by going on the Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca   Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).
