Camp Ignite – Summer 2021 - Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18 that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. The plan this year is to run a 2-day camp (no overnight) on August 14 & 15; one day in Vancouver and one day in North Vancouver. Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Saanich Youth Leadership Summer Placement Program - Are you interested in spending your summer working with kids? Do you want to be a leader in your community and work with diverse individuals? This summer, Saanich is offering a Mentored Placement Program for youth 14–17 years old. Participants in this program will have the chance to work in an outdoor camp setting with kids and a personal staff mentor. It is a great stepping stone for youth who are interested in one day working in community recreation, education, social work, athletics, human services, child and youth care, ECE IT recreation and health education and so much more. MAGIC WAND PROJECT - Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included.
