GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES BOOK DRIVE: Students from Global Perspectives 11 are collecting children and parenting books to donate to the YMCA Young Moms program. Donations will be collected in the main foyer. Any book donation is greatly appreciated!

WOMEN IN THE AUTOMOTOVE INDUSTRY - On May 26 at 11 am - 11:45 am, AutoCareersBC will host the webinar, “Change Begins with Us – Women in the Automotive Industry.” As the automotive industry is still predominantly male, this will be a conversation to discuss and identify not only what challenges women are facing coming into industry but also what opportunities are available to them. Camp Ignite – Summer 2021 - Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18 that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. The plan this year is to run a 2-day camp (no overnight) on August 14 & 15; one day in Vancouver and one day in North Vancouver. Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Saanich Youth Leadership Summer Placement Program - Are you interested in spending your summer working with kids? Do you want to be a leader in your community and work with diverse individuals? This summer, Saanich is offering a Mentored Placement Program for youth 14–17 years old. Participants in this program will have the chance to work in an outdoor camp setting with kids and a personal staff mentor. It is a great stepping stone for youth who are interested in one day working in community recreation, education, social work, athletics, human services, child and youth care, ECE IT recreation and health education and so much more. KIDS CLUB SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - If you are interested in working with children in an outdoor summer day camp setting with staff mentors, there are a few programs that may interest you! These programs will train young leaders through mentored work. Vancouver Island Kids Klub are currently recruiting youth ages 16-18 to work at their 7 camp locations and Little Beavers Daycare. $15.20 hour, and you will receive pre-camp and ongoing training sessions.
