GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Clubhouse on Ciabatta Bread, Chicken Caesar Salad, Hummus & Pita, Butter Chicken Rice Bowl with Naan, Roasted Carrot & Spinach Ricotta stuffed pasta, Sweet & Sour pork on Rice or Baked Italian Pasta in a rose sauce.  Come on down and check it out!

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES BOOK DRIVE: Students from Global Perspectives 11 are collecting children and parenting books to donate to the YMCA Young Moms program. Donations will be collected in the main foyer. Any book donation is greatly appreciated!

FRAL 12 STUDENTS FROM QUARTER 1 & 2 ... please come to the Large Gym on Wednesday, May 19th at 11:45am for a Group Photo!

Global Perspectives Grade 11 students are hosting a Car Wash this Saturday, May 15rth from 11am to 2pm at Brentwood Elementary School. All of the proceeds will go the “Dog Bless Rescue Partners” This foundation helps save Dogs from being put down. We ask for a donation of $5 to $10 for each car wash. If you would like to volunteer, please see Ms. Matheson at lunch.

SCHOOL BUS REGISTRATION FOR 2021-2022 - School bus registration for next school year is now open until June 20th. To register, you will need your Student #.  Registration link is on the Saanich School District website:  https://www.sd63.bc.ca/programs-and-services/transportation

WOMEN IN THE AUTOMOTOVE INDUSTRY -  On May 26 at 11 am - 11:45 am, AutoCareersBC will host the webinar, “Change Begins with Us – Women in the Automotive Industry.” As the automotive industry is still predominantly male, this will be a conversation to discuss and identify not only what challenges women are facing coming into industry but also what opportunities are available to them.  For more information and to register see the Saanich Career Education website under the Opportunities for Girls tab https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

CAMP IGNITE – SUMMER 2021  - Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18 that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. The plan this year is to run a 2-day camp (no overnight) on August 14 & 15; one day in Vancouver and one day in North Vancouver.  Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Application deadline is June 1. SAANICH YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMER PLACEMENT PROGRAM - Are you interested in spending your summer working with kids? Do you want to be a leader in your community and work with diverse individuals?  This summer, Saanich is offering a Mentored Placement Program for youth 14–17 years old. Participants in this program will have the chance to work in an outdoor camp setting with kids and a personal staff mentor. KIDS CLUB SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - If you are interested in working with children in an outdoor summer day camp setting with staff mentors, there are a few programs that may interest you! GRAD 2021

GRADS - It is time to book your appointment to be filmed crossing the bridge as part of this year's virtual graduation ceremony. Filming will take place on Saturday June 12th from 10am-6pm. Link and sign up information is posted in the Grad 2021 Google Classroom. See Mrs Dildy if you have any questions. 

Grads… Be sure to check the Counselling office window to ensure that your name is on the Grad list. If not ... grab a green form and come to the main office to see Ms. Batham and she will tell you what you need to do to get on the Grad list!

PARENT COMMITTEE for GRAD 2021 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, May 22nd from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.  This is the last bottle drive for this grad class of 2021,  as we will be passing this onto the parents and grads of 2022 in June. We need as many volunteers as possible as we have been gathering recycling. Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end grad event parents are helping with.

WHALE WATCHING TRIP  - Students going on the Whale Watching Trip are asked to attend a brief meeting today at lunchtime outside in the amphitheatre area. If you are unable to make this meeting, please see Diane in the International Office.
