STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

SWIM CLUB: All students interested in swimming for fun and fitness---we are looking for local and intenational students interested in trying the swim team this year!  Meeting today in room 40 today at lunch. This is a great group of students and w have an awesome coach lined up for this year. Bring your lunch and a friend!! Meeting starts at 11:35. See Mr. Siebert for details.

CAREER CENTRE

TEAC 105 - EXPLORATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY - Calling All Technology & Engineering Enthusiasts…  TEAC is a Dual Credit course that provides an introduction to careers and basic skills in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Civil Engineering and Computer Science.  This 4-credit course, Friday nights from 3:00- 6:00 at the Camosun Interurban Campus 3 hours per week, for 13 weeks.  For more information see the Saanich Career Education website at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/  ... under the Training, Workshops and Camps tab. To apply see the Career Centre!

VERY SHORT NOTICE, REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS NEXT WEEK!!  Are you a candidate for the Gulf Island Fire Rescue Cadet Camp? The next camp runs March 21-26, 2022.   Applications must be submitted before September 15, 2021.  Wonder what it’s like to run into a building that everyone else is running out of?  Think you could dangle off a rope 50 feet in the air?  Want to make a difference?   Wish you could help? Applicants must be 15 to 18 years of age.  Admission fee will be $200 per student.  Upon completion, students qualify for 100 Work Experience hours, equivalent to 4 school credits.  See your Career Teacher to Apply!  (You MUST apply through your Career Teacher)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The BC RCMP Community Policing Services is recruiting volunteers for the 2021-2022 BC RCMP Youth Advisory Committee (BC RCMP YAC). The purpose of the BC RCMP Advisory Committee is to represent the youth voice within the RCMP and to gain insight on how the RCMP can deliver effective youth strategies and initiatives.  Youth can email yacbc@rcmp-grc.gc.ca  for an application. Completed applications must be returned by September 21, 2021. If chosen as a youth advisor, participation will run from October 2021 to June 2022.

Tripleshot CrossFondo  which is a 45+ ride of backcountry trails in Victoria BC. This event is a fundraiser for the Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Racing Team, and also raises money to support the South Vancouver Island Nature Trail Society and the South Island Mountain Bike Society. Check-out the website @ www.tripleshotcrossfondo.ca  Volunteers Needed, Sunday, October 17, 2021.   Nutrition station - Trails Marshalls\Marker - Start\Finish.  If you’d like to volunteer on the event day, please email tscrossfondo@gmail.com

GRAD 2022

PARENT COMMITTEE for GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, September 25th from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.   Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account. Thank You for your continued support!!

PARENT AFTER GRAD 2022 COMITTEE is having their first 2022 after grad planning meeting at Stelly’s, in the Learning Commons, as long as we are allowed by our PHO.  It will be September 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Mark that on your Calendar!

ALL NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS are asked to attend a meeting in the outdoor amphitheatre on Friday, Sept 10 at lunch time. Bring your lunch! See you all there!

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

SAANICH PENNINSULA YOUTH CLINIC is operating through Telehealth tonight from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
