GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of Roast Beef Dip topped with Mozza Cheese, Cajun Chicken Caesar Wrap, Turkey Spinach & Strawberry Salad with Poppy seed dressing, Bowtie Pasta & chorizo in a pesto cream sauce, Sweet & Sour Chicken on Rice or Corn Chowder with a cheese biscuit!  Come on down and check it out!

Just a Cafeteria note to the Grade 12's that from now on you are able to use the Staff window during break only to buy food from the cafeteria. Just at Break ONLY for the Grade 12's!

GSA  Alliance - The first Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meeting is TUESDAY at lunch in room 6 (Art Room). Everyone is welcome!  For more information, come talk to or email Mr. Colin Montgomery.

STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY is next TUESDAY, SEPT. 21st - in the morning for all grades!!!  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  

RETURN FORMS - Reminder for students to please return their forms to their TA class or the main office.   

MASKS - Reminder that masks are a mandatory requirement in the school and we hope that every student will bring a mask to school every day for their personal use.

MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156.

CAREER CENTRE

SKILLS CANADA BC ONLINE VIDEO PRODUCTION CHALLENGE  #2 - Are you passionate about Skilled Trades and Technology? Show off your Video Production skills with this month’s Online Video Production Challenge!  The Winner will receive a $75 e-gift card per category.  Deadline to enter is October 15th, 2021, 6:00 pm PST.  See the Poster on the Saanich Career Education webpage @ https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/

The application into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Camosun College opens on Wednesday, September 15th and will remain open until Wednesday, December 15th. BC/Yukon high school students are eligible to apply in their Grade 12 year. GPA will be initially calculated on interim grades to determine provisional qualification. Self-reporting of interim grades for current BC/Yukon high school students due Feb 28, 2022. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The BC RCMP Community Policing Services is recruiting volunteers for the 2021-2022 BC RCMP Youth Advisory Committee (BC RCMP YAC). The purpose of the BC RCMP Advisory Committee is to represent the youth voice within the RCMP and to gain insight on how the RCMP can deliver effective youth strategies and initiatives.  Youth can email yacbc@rcmp-grc.gc.ca  for an application. Completed applications must be returned by September 21, 2021. If chosen as a youth advisor, participation will run from October 2021 to June 2022.

Tripleshot CrossFondo  which is a 45+ ride of backcountry trails in Victoria BC. This event is a fundraiser for the Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Racing Team, and also raises money to support the South Vancouver Island Nature Trail Society and the South Island Mountain Bike Society. Check-out the website @ www.tripleshotcrossfondo.ca  Volunteers Needed, Sunday, October 17, 2021.   Nutrition station - Trails Marshalls\Marker - Start\Finish.  If you’d like to volunteer on the event day, please email tscrossfondo@gmail.com

PARENT COMMITTEE for GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, September 25th from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.   Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account. Thank You for your continued support!!

PARENT AFTER GRAD 2022 COMITTEE is having their first 2022 after grad planning meeting at Stelly’s, in the Learning Commons, as long as we are allowed by our PHO.  It will be September 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Mark that on your Calendar!

SAANICH PENNINSULA YOUTH CLINIC is operating through Telehealth tonight from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential  for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
