GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of Chicken Roasted Peppers Spinach & Brie Flatbread, Toonie Wrap, Black & Blue Chicken salad, Beef Chow Mein, Baked Cheese tortellini with sun dried tomato sauce or Thai Mango Chicken curry on rice.  Come on down and check it out!

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY is today in the morning for all grades!!!  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  

GSA ALLIANCE - The first Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meeting is TODAY at lunch in Rm 6 (Upper Art Room). Everyone is welcome!

STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT is this THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2021 (Early Dismissal at 2:05pm)   Doors are open at 5:30pm and our evening program starts at 6pm. You will need your child's schedule so you may go through and meet their teachers!

SPIRIT WEEK IS Happening this Week.  Today is Tight & Bright day! Tomorrow is Purple Day.  THURSDAY is Tacky Tropical Day and Friday is Western Day! 

COMPOST IS BACK!! Don't forget to Put your food scraps in the green bins in each foyer!

RETURN FORMS - Reminder for students to please return their forms to their TA class or the main office.   

MASKS - Reminder that masks are a mandatory requirement in the school and we hope that every student will bring a mask to school every day for their personal use.

MORNING HOMEWORK HELP is available every morning from 7:15 am in room 156.

CAREER CENTRE

POST SECONDARY BC (PSBC) is a consortium of primarily public post-secondary institutions in BC, who provide information you need to help make the best education decisions.

Virtual Fairs for students & parents:

-       Seven dates, open to everyone across the province, with each fair open for 10 hours.

-       Presentations (live or pre-recorded) up to six times daily (# will vary by institution)

-       Live text & video chat available with institutional representatives

-       Multiple “door prizes” will be awarded to student participants after each event

CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES EVENT (CUE) is a forum designed to highlight Canada’s universities to BC’s secondary school students and families. CUE brings together over 50 of Canada’s finest post-secondary institutions and showcases them over two weeks in September & October. SKILLS CANADA BC ONLINE VIDEO PRODUCTION CHALLENGE  #2 - Are you passionate about Skilled Trades and Technology? The application for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Camosun College is now open and will remain open until December 15th. BC/Yukon high school students are eligible to apply in their Grade 12 year. GPA will be initially calculated on interim grades to determine provisional qualification. Self-reporting of interim grades for current BC/Yukon high school students due Feb 28, 2022. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The BC RCMP Community Policing Services is recruiting volunteers for the 2021-2022 BC RCMP Youth Advisory Committee (BC RCMP YAC). The purpose of the BC RCMP Advisory Committee is to represent the youth voice within the RCMP and to gain insight on how the RCMP can deliver effective youth strategies and initiatives.  Youth can email yacbc@rcmp-grc.gc.ca  for an application. Completed applications must be returned by TODAY. If chosen as a youth advisor, participation will run from October 2021 to June 2022.

Tripleshot CrossFondo  which is a 45+ ride of backcountry trails in Victoria BC. GRAD 2022

PARENT COMMITTEE for GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, September 25th from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.   Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the yearend grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account. Thank You for your continued support!!

PARENT AFTER GRAD 2022 COMITTEE is having their first 2022 after grad planning meeting at Stelly’s, in the Learning Commons, as long as we are allowed by our PHO.  It will be September 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm. Mark that on your Calendar!

ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS are asked to attend a Lunch on Thursday, Sept 23 in the Dining Room.  Lunch will be provided.  See you all there!
