GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

GOOD MORNING STELLY'S! We would like to take this moment to acknowledge the W̱SÁNEĆ TERRITORY our school resides on...        

Here are today's announcements ...

TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Beef Dip with Mozza & au jus, Bacon Cheese & Chicken Ranch Wrap, Turkey Dinner with Mashed Potatoes Veggies, gravy & Stuffing, Szechuan Pork and Peppers on Rice, Veggie or Chicken Cheese Quesadilla, Chicken Caesar Salad or a Cheesy Baked Pasta with Sausage.  Come on Down and check it out! 

The Social Justice Club would like to thank the Stelly’s community for donating to the Red Cross Ukrainian Relief Fund. With your support, Stelly’s sent $1,422 from the school!  And direct donations from dedicated Stelly’s families brought our donation   total to around $1,700!  Thank you again, Stingers, for all your help and support!

CHANGES TO MASK REGULATIONS: As indicated by the Public Health Orders, the use of masks are OPTIONAL NOW. We must all respect the decision and physical space of others whether they choose to wear a mask or not.   Regardless of mask use, please continue to monitor your health and remain home if you are unwell.

CHECK OUT THE FREE CLOTHING RACK OUTSIDE THE TEXTILES ROOM! Come on and check it out and help yourself!

Any students wishing to REWRITE their Literacy 10, Numeracy 10 or Literacy 12 exams please see Mr. Braun in the office ASAP. We will be rewriting at the end of April.

IS YOUR CHILD GRADUATING IN 2023? We are looking for a grad 2023 parent to take over the monthly bottle drop offs?  It has become a huge fundraiser, so far, we have raised over $10,000 in bottles!  We have April and May drop offs, and then June we pass it over to the 2023 crew. STUDENT PARKING: Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot... you need to be registered. Parking forms are available in the Main Office.

STUDENT ABSENCE OR LATE:  If a student will be absent or late for class, we ask that parents/guardians either email  stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca or phone the Attendance Line 250-544-0300 to let the school know.

HOMEWORK HELP: Before School Homework help is at 7:15am in Room 46 and After School Homework Help is in the Learning Commons 4 days a week Monday thru Thursday until 4:00 pm for Math and Science. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for support with English and Social Studies.

CLUBS

Indigenous Leadership will be cancelled on Friday due to the Stinger Conference. All Indigenous students, if you would like to come on a field trip to UVic, please come see Caitlyn or Aimee in the Cultural Room. On Tuesday, April 12th there is a mandatory meeting for all Indigenous Leadership students in Room 33 at lunch.

TRADES EXPLORATION (TEx Program) - TEx Program, in Semester 2 next year at Claremont Secondary, it can help you discover the trade that suits you and your talents best, and, lead into post secondary trades training at Camosun College. Tex combines school-based instruction with actual workplace experience in Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding and Electrical, giving you a comprehensive overview of each of these trade areas.  Learn about each trade, fast track your future and earn up to 8 credits toward grad for completing 2 courses!  See Ms. Hackman in the Career Centre for more information.

GRAD 2022

IT IS A TRADITION AT STELLYS TO INCORPORATE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES IN OUR GRAD RECOGNITION CEREMONY:  Talk to Mr. Ziegler if you have any questions.  Apply by April 14th.  Auditions will take place May 4th and May 6th.

REMINDER to Grads ... Please hand in your grad forms to the main office!

VALEDICTORIAN & EMCEE APPLICATIONS - Due April 19th   - If you wish to apply for the role of Valedictorian or Ceremony Emcee please complete the form on the Grad Google Drive and submit by April 19th. For your application you will need the names of 8 people who nominate you. They will be contacted to confirm they support your application: 4 of your peers, 2 teachers, 1 counsellor & 1 administrator.  Valedictorian applications will also need to provide details of 2 extra-curricular activities and one voluntary or leadership role beyond the scope of the classroom!

GRAD SCHOLARSHIP meeting is happening on Wednesday, April 20th at lunch in the Learning Commons. See Mrs. Laws if you have any questions!

STELLY'S 2022 AFTERGRAD SILENT AUCTION, website ( https://www.32auctions.com/stellysgrads) and it will be LIVE from April 6th thru19th finishing up at Brewskies pub for a Beer 'n Burger night, Tuesday April 19th.  Tickets for the Beer ’n Burger are $25 and can be purchased by emailing Christa Flight at ccflight@shaw.ca.  Thanks for all your support of our 2022 grads!

GRAD SPRING PLANT FUNDRAISER is happening right now! For each plant that you sell, you get $5 credited towards your Grad Dinner Dance ticket.  This is an excellent opportunity to reduce costs and get some beautiful flowers, plants, veggies, and herbs.  You can either collect orders and record your sales on the order form, or you can refer people to the link to access the website.  Orders and money are due on April 14th and plants will arrive on May 3rd.  Please see Ms. Tamboline in room 43 if you have any questions.

PARENTS/COMMUNITY

KIDSPORT GREATER VICTORIA: Financial support for families in need, So ALL Kids Can Play.   KidSport Greater Victoria is a local organization that exists to help families in need access organized sport opportunities for their children. To be eligible for up to $600 per year in registration fee support, children must be 18 years or under, families must be within financial eligibility limits, and season must be at least 8 weeks long with an eligible sport organization.  For more information, a list of eligible local sport organizations, and to apply, visit www.kidsportvictoria.ca.

SAANICH PENNINSULA YOUTH CLINIC is operating through Telehealth tonight from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.
