TODAY THE CAFETERIA has the choice of a Ham & Cheese Ciabatta, Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, Beef Barley Soup with a biscuit, Mac & Cheese, Strawberry Spinach Brie & Chicken Salad, or a Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl.   Come on Down and check it out!

Reminder that May 17th is International day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. If you can rock some rainbows in your flower power hippie gear, I know it will be appreciated. We have the largest populations of the LGBTQIA+ Community in our neighborhood and a good representation at our school who often feel unsupported in society. Let’s show them we care.

STELLY'S SENIOR DRAMA CLASS presents “The Outsiders” based on the classic novel by S.E. Hinton. The Musical runs from May 25th thru May 27th in the MPR at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm and tickets are $10 and available in the Main Office.

ALL INDIGENOUS STUDENTS are invited to a field trip to Camosun Interurban Campus on Thursday May 19th. Come to the Cultural Room to grab a field trip form!

SCHOOL BUS REGISTRATION for 2022-2023 - Registration is now open for students to ride the school bus for the next 2022-2023 school year.  Students must be registered with SD63 Transportation Department and hold a current year bus pass in order to ride on the bus.  Registration is on-line, and you will need the following information when registering: Student Name, School, Grade, Student Number. Registration is on the SD#63 website. Registration will close June 15, 2022.

IS YOUR CHILD GRADUATING IN 2023? We are looking for a grad 2023 parent to take over the monthly bottle drop offs?  It has become a huge fundraiser, so far we have raised over $10,000 in bottles!  We have April and May drop offs, and then June we pass it over to the 2023 crew. HOMEWORK HELP: Before School Homework help is at 7:15am in Room 46 and After School Homework Help is in the Learning Commons 4 days a week Monday thru Thursday until 4:00 pm for Math and Science. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for support with English and Social Studies.

CAREER CENTRE

SKILLS CANADA BC ONLINE INVENTORS MONTH CHALLENGE:  Get creative and spread awareness about occupational health and safety!  Research a trade or technology of your choice, find a health and/or safety hazard and invent a way to spread awareness and try to prevent accidents from happening in that environment.  Deadline for entering is June 17, 2022.  The Winner will receive a $25 e-gift card of your choice.  See the Poster on the Saanich Career Education webpage @ https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/  under the Events, Info Sessions and more tab for Contest Details, Challenge Materials, Challenge Instructions, and more!!

AS WE ENTER THE FINAL STAGES OF UVIC ADMISSIONS CYCLE FOR SEPTEMBER, here are a few reminders.

1)     Completion of online courses: Deadline is June 30th

2)     Registration 101 Webinars: May 16 to June 2: In advance of course registration opening in mid-June, our office will host Registration 101 Webinars from Monday, May 16 to Thursday, June 2 at various time slots to help incoming students prepare for course registration. Students can now sign up for Registration 101 webinars. 

3)     Zoom workshops for Grade 10/11 students hosted by Gustavson: Any interested Grade 10 or 11 student can register to attend these sessions:

a.      Adulting 101:  personal finance for students preparing for college & university – May 18 and 19

b.      Creativity 101:  train your brain to be more creative & why it matters more than ever – May 25

4)     Specific-criteria (application-based) entrance scholarship timeline: Applications for the specific-criteria application entrance awards will be adjudicated between May 15 and July 30. All award winners will be notified by email following this adjudication period.  If a student is awarded a specific-criteria scholarship, they must accept the award offer by the deadline stated on their offer letter.  

5)     First year housing guarantee offer timeline:  Residence Services will begin issuing 1st year guaranteed housing offers in late May via email. Applicants are reminded to please read the email thoroughly and respond within the timeframe indicated.

THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AT CAMOSUN COLLEGE is hosting its first live face to face information session on Thursday, May 26th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.  The School of Business Information Sessions are a great way to learn more about a program and to get your questions answered by faculty and staff.  For more information see the Saanich Career Education website at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/ under the Events, Info Session and more tab. No need to register in advance, simply visit our website and join the meeting approximately 5 minutes before the start time.  Google Chrome is the recommended browser.

GRAD 2022

REMINDER to Grads ... If you haven't handed in your GRAD FORMS YET ... DO SO ASAP!! They are PAST DUE!

Mandatory Grad Rehearsals are at lunch in the Large Gym TODAY May 16 & Thursday June 16. Also, on Friday, May 27th we are heading to UVIC to do the final Rehearsal.  Please put these dates in your calendar and do not miss these important rehearsals!!

MAGIC WAND PROJECT:  Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. GRAD 2022 BOTTLE DRIVE is happening on Saturday, May 28th from 9am-12pm at Stelly's School.  Please consider volunteering for 1, 2 or all 3 hours. Please bring a mask and gloves, we will have a sanitizing station also. This bottle drive is HUGE and is contributing lots to the year end grad 2022 event parents are helping with. You can also drop your bottles off anytime throughout the year at one of the three Bottle Depots in Victoria (Glanford, Quadra and Queens) and ask for the funds to be added to the Stelly's Parent Grad Account.
