On May 5, 2011, the Stelly’s Senior First Nations Art Class went to the Totem Pole Unveiling of Master Carver Charles Elliott’s three new Coast Salish totem P\poles at Victoria International Airport.
The class has been studying the totem pole and all are involved in or have been studying carving this semester.
Charles explained the historical legends and meanings of the totem poles and ties to the First Nations People.
The class also visited the Eagle’s Nest Lounge area in the upper level of the Airport where Charles has some of his other artwork.
It was great for the First Nations Students to integrate their culture and art.
