POPPIES
It has been 101 years since Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae wrote his poem, “In Flanders Fields,” sharing the phenomenon worldwide of poppies growing among the dead laying in war-torn fields, and over the graves of soldiers. Wearing a Poppy has since become a visual symbol and reminder of honour and ultimate sacrifice of our veterans.
The Royal Canadian Legion has kindly provided poppies for every member of our school. We encourage all students and staff at Stelly's to proudly wear a Poppy, and plan to make a donation (we suggest a Loonie or Twonie)  to the Legion Poppy Fund before our assembly tomorrow in Block 2.
